Mountain Lion in Sheridan
By MaryJo Johnson on Wed 04/28/2010
A call to Sheridan Media this morning from Wyoming Game & Fish informed us of a mountain lion sighting in the Sheridan city limits in a neighborhood near Sheridan College Tuesday. Spokesman Tim Thomas. Thomas says the cat looks to be a 2-year-old male, about 85 pounds. They surmise he was recently weaned and was out trying to establish his own territory, most likely making his way down Little Goose Creek. Thomas advises the public. Thomas says there have been no reports, yet, of any missing pets in that area.

Shoot4fur,
I had a depredation contract with GAme and Fish for over 5 years and in that time I never got a call. They call me up every year asking me to come sign the contract and finally I said no there is no point. If they call someone to run a depredation they have to pay them. Much easier for them to put out some alert in the paper or try to trap it and day "it must just be passing through" when they are unsuccessful than to have to pay a houndsperson to run it and tree it. Oh well hope the young cat finds his way back up on the mountain to grow up to be a good tom, but I doubt it.
Mike,
Your probably right! Not like we have a 50 or so big ol toms running around the mountians kicking the young ones out of their territory. lol No offense to Tim Thomas the biologist with G&F, nicest guy you will ever meet, but when it comes to mountain lions he has his own opinions.
