smart dog
so for a couple nights now my little bluetick female was getting out of the kennel... i thought it was the door i thought she was pulling it open just enough so i used some chain made it so it wouldnt open at all.... then she got out some more so i chained a 2x6 in front of it so there is no gap in the door... she got out agian so finally put her back and stood behind my barn and listened and i heard the kennel shaking so i looked and that dog is climbing up and over the kennel... Didnt think my little pup was so smart maybe she will turn out to me a good dog after all

Jerid, I know that the costs for this sport can just keep climbing and climbing, but to save your dog, and potential vet bills, you need to put a top on your kennel. Also, don't ever chain her close to a fence of any type, or she has the potential to hang herself also. I have experienced this tragic loss, as I'm sure, others here have also. Save your pup while you can, and enjoy her for lots of years.

Re: smart dog
I had a pup that kept doing what you are describing. I put a strand of electric fence around the kennel about 5 feet up. Using insulators at each corner. He touched it once. I only had the electric fence charger up for a couple days. Left the wire up for a few months. The dog is ten now and has never tried it again. Kinda mean but better then a broken leg. Warning: if you wear a hat with a bill on it don't forget if you run the wire on the inside of the gate. It sucks.

I had a dog tear the tendons in a back leg going over a chain link gate.
An injury like that can cripple a dog for life.
Fortunatly my vet was able to fix it but it cost a bundle.
