Can't answer for him but can let you know how I feel. Getting up at 3 in the A.M on a frosty morning leaving my wife who was curled up next to me... not so much at first.....Up in the mountains to see the sun rise....great to be alive....Roar of the dogs on top of the box when they rig...gets the adreniline rushing....watching pups you bred and raised take out after the bear...proud.....hearing that gigantic roar from your pack that fills the canyon...man if that doesn't get your blood pumping I don't know what will....hearing your dogs lock onto the tree...YEEHAW....Hiking down into the tree....man wish I was in better shape....killing the bear (at the end of the season)......don't care who pulls the trigger not the reason I hunt......packing out that bad boy.....wish I hadnt eaten those dozen doughnuts......biting into a big bear meat enchilada made by my wife.....PRICELESS..
The reason I kill a bear is for the meat. love it more than beef. In my opinion bear are just an animal no different than a racoon, lion, bobcat or even a cow for that matter. I don't believe that you can assign human emmotions to animals. I have no problem with someone eating a horse, cat, dog, etc. If you are going to eat it kill away. I will say if I couldn't hunt with dogs I wouldn't hunt. Just shooting something doesn't interest me. I will support anyone elses right to lawfully and ethically shoot something.

Tree n walkers go ahead and kill everyone you guys tree and everyone up here will thank you! Mike Leonard your posts seem to have a little negativity it sounds like, i don't know for sure but thats the way it comes across. If im wrong i apologize, but if i'm right please do some research on who and where your directing the comments! Where tree n walkers hunts has an over population of bears and since only tribal members may hunt them they have yet to be held in check, which elk and deer fawn mortality has been a huge problem, along with nuisance bears! I know your in new mexico mike and many other regions around the west have problems with over harvest of bears and cougars, but the 1.4 million acres of where treenwalkers is, is bordered by areas that hound hunting has been outlawed and predator populations are an issue, so the harvesting of these animals by the half dozen houndmen that can hunt, only drops the carrying capacity for a year and is a quickly built back. I know in other regions harvesting game even small numbers hurts the population and makes the enjoyment of hound hunting harder but that is not the case where he is.

I'm betting it makes him feel on top of world! Nice bears. Pour it on'em thick T-n-W and savour the moments. Remember how you got here and they'll eventually have to respect you. Hounding can be cruel. Hero one year and zero the next. Maybe all in one day! Enjoy the heroics and forget the zero's (haters included). Congrats.

Piglet,

Read my question again....then think where are you getting negativity out of it? Are you reading it into those words?

it is just a simple question, and has nothing to do with the over or under population of bears or anything else.

So possibly that was my answer right there?

Mike like i said if im reading wrong i absolutely apologize, and maybe i see to many posts on here about don't kill everything that i may have read your post wrong! I know everyone tnw was talking about and the jealously issue is because they haven't caught that many! In his neck of the woods how much time, along with having a decent dog or two determines how many you will catch, not trying to find one! My buddy up there for instance hooked a runner on sunday, while trying to get all the dogs gathered up they SEEN four different bears! its incredible the amount of bears around there!

I thought it was an anti kill post too. There are way to many bears here, seen fifteen this last weekend around the lake we hunt at.
