Killing game

Post by BEAR HUNTER »

Just curious what everyones thoughts are on killing game. Doesn't matter what kind. Do you kill game out to your dogs everytime you tree or just once in awhile? My thoughts on it are if you kill everytime you tree youre going to shoot yourself out of a place to hunt. I am seeing this now with the public coonhunting area around my house. Place that you used to be able to go out and tree a coon in are empty. Whats your guys thoughts on this.

If your killing everything you tree, all your doing is shooting your self in the foot and it's not needed to make a dog, I know that there are a lot guy's that think that you need to, but with us loosing places to hunt every year then wipping out the places we have to hunt with no regaurd to the big picture all your doing is killing off your own sport.

I agree with ya guys. i think if you have a semi decent dog you shouldn't have to kill everything you catch for them. hell i see yahoos on here killing everything they catch and then asking for spots to hunt.   maybe they will learn there's more to this then killing shit.

I'm sure this topic has been discussed before but I don't care. I am sick of these guys killing everything that climbs. Makes no sense. I understand thinning coon in places where they are over populated. No problem there as I have seen distemper come in and wipe out overpopulated areas. I am talking about killing coon just to kill them or the old thought process that you need to knock game out to make a dog. There are guys hunting that are killing everything in the tree no matter what time of year. NOT COOL!

yep Radar, i don't flip flop on my beliefs. There will always be guys that hunt hounds just so they can kill shit and after being on this site you get to see how many people that are in this sport just for the killing, it's scary. I can tell by your posts that you haven't ran hounds long and that you don't have a clue about game managment, so i don't expect you to fully understand. it is alot to wrap your brain around.
