10 pups born, the 11th six days later?
Thank God, there wasnt a bad outcome. My bitch had 10 pups. I had her in the house, the first five days, the weather warmed up, so yesterday, I took them to the puppy pen. This morning, they are six days today, I opened the house, and one dead. I thought she laid on one or something. I took the pup out, and for some reason, 10 pups, I couldnt believe it, I counted six times, still waking up))). Sure enought ten alive, so she had the 11th six days later. could have been tragic, for her. Anyone else see this? I bred within 48 hours.

have seen it that way 3 or 4 times..
for some reason the female did not complete the whelping. with the pup being born dead, I would sure give her a good round of antibiotics --- start with about 8 days of penicillin if you have it.
otherwise you might end up with milk fever or worse pyrometria
I lost an awful good one about 18 years back on that account. the mother of Bob Thornal's Pardner.

Yes, I was worried about infections also, I started her on amox. just to be safe, but I apprectiate the advice. Well taken.

Are they more of those fine looking red and white dogs? I don't like hearing about stuff like that. I sure hope your female is going to be alright.

You might want to take her and get her Xrayed to make sure there aren't any more in there.
