Piggy back question to agressive male post

Im not having a problem, but the post below got me wondering how common is this agressive behaviour seen in females? And what are the common causes? The common thread in males seems to often involve other males, or females in heat, so is it fairly common to get females that are wired wrong also? Thanks Ken

you know i've only seen one strain that the females where what you'd call truely aggressive. it was a walker bloodhound mix that had been line bred for years . they where damn good cat hounds on lion some where a bit faster but not big dogs just real methodical trackers. that was about the only real predictable thing about them. IF it ever got to a dog fight you could bet one was going to turn up dead sooner or later. the upside is that behavior kinda weeds itself. the guy running them had some true alligators towards the end.

I had a pack of female curs that just blew up one night. Everything was fine for several hours and then out of the blue a fight broke out and I thought they had caught something. Got down there and all 4 were going at it. I got bit threw the hand and after that all of them got the bullet. I came home with collars. I don't know what happened but, desided right then it wasn't going to happen again.

Just a quick paragraph on one of our experiences. Had a kennel with a few females in it. Hunted together for years, kenneled together always.. most were even related to each other. The only problem ever, was a little light food aggression. Then, one day, for no apparent reason one afternoon, the entire bunch of females exploded in to an all out fight to the death. 2 daughters ended up basically killing their own mother. Bad, bad deal. Go for years with no problem at all and the one day it all changes.

So, never say never, that can't happen to these dogs. It can all change in the blink of an eye for reasons we may not always understand.. JMO.. KattKrapp

I had a feamle bluetick that would get plain stupid with one of my other females during feeding time. She was fine when I was home but if my wife fed them I would be doing some stitching. We even seperated them during feeding but the bluetick would wait till they got back together after eating and still attack the other female. I ended up giving her to another guy with all males and he has never had a problem with her. Don't know what her problem was other then she must have really hated that other female.

I had two pups from different litters that I raised together...both males. One of them became aggressive to the other one once they started seeing game animals shot out to them. The aggressive one was only aggressive to the one individual dog that he was raised with. I waited a little too long to deal with it and ended up with a badly injured dog. The aggressive dog was dealt with promptly after that incident. Why did he have a problem with only one particular dog? Don't know. Never saw him get frisky with any of the other ones. Guess they are sorta like people...some just can't get along.
