june 2 2010 don whittaker from odfw sent me an e-mail. here are some of his comments.....regarding your question of weather females and their young are targeted, this is not correct.the department is not specifically targeting female bears and their cubs, or female cougars and their kittens when attempting to address conflict or as part of administrative cougar removals. however, it is allowable to take a female and their young when addressing conflict.
may 7 2010 mr david williams from usda sent me an e-mail. here are some of his comments....if your question is, are we required to, response is:whoever is doing the administrative removal of cougars(wildlife services or other odfw agents)they are to pursue cougars randomly and should they capture a female with kittens then all of them are to be euthanized by the agent.(this means shot)
this establishes the pattern of deception folks...usda finally denounced its role in recieving its funding from the oregon legislature. usda's david williams claims his funding and all other funding comes from SPORTSMENS DOLLARS! let me see if i understand this...odfw raised the cost of hunting and fishing license and tags thru the roof for what good reason? to hire usda to hunt our cougar with hounds........geeze....come on odfw did this and we hunters aren't calling bullshit? i will no doubt be getting the facts in order on this as well. either way it recieves its funding really does'nt matter...tax payer generated or license, tag fees....not right!
friday june 11 armed with these facts i headed to odfw headquarters in salem. i requested the harvest numbers of all the wet sows and cubs killed and recorded by odfw.female cougars and kittens as well. odfw has claimed to show no records. but according to williams e-mails they have done what is required by law and given information over to the commission. odfw denies this and trys sending me to usda for information....hmmm...i'm willing to bet the farm these cubs-kittens have been counted as male and female shot and left where they hit the ground.( odfw claims they don't target sows and cubs)common sense will tell you if you are fishing with a net strung across a river you will catch fish...any and all fish. this is for the bear snare. as stated in my earlier post. you ain't ever going to catch usda with cubs in the back of a truck that the license read u.s. government. little dudes that at that time of year weigh all of 15-20 pounds....what do you think? like what odfw and usda are doing? think this alternative replacement for us is more humane and ethical?
let me see here.... mike can't even turn a hound out on any road or any place in the entire state of oregon to even take a shit or i have "bird nesting rule" shoved up my ass by odfw....but our hunter dollars are financing our hunting. geeze...is this a form of outsourcing? earlier claims on here state odfw is on our side. again folks....what do you think? odfw sent me a generated invoice for my bear and cougar removal request. it is charging me $33.00 -total dollars. the reason?
i will let don whittaker explain....given the budgetary constraints in oregon state government at this time of economic downturn, the department's across-the -board policy is not to waive any fees for information request....translation....it needs my "blank"ing money to pay usda to do the hunting for all of us. flat ass broke and must charge me 25 cents a page for information given to me...but has the kind of money to hire usda to get the hunting done..quick overview...if williams is correct and odfw really wants to remove 2000 cougars over time this will cost oregon hunters over 6 million dollars......ron anglin from odfw.... hmmm. the new six million dollar man...these people missed a true calling in life by not getting into national politics......obama, reid, pelosi ain't got nothing on these people.....
i really do have greater things to do than be typing my fingers off, i wanted to get away from any post but.....someone needs to ride herd on these people.maybe make folks aware of what really goes on with odfw. i made a promise back in 1994 sitting on my snowmobile in the wenaha wilderness on december 5 th. at 2 o'clock in the afternoon in the head of little looking glass cr.. i just hit the road after treeing and allowing my friends to harvest the last of three tom cougars. i told the crew to head'er on down to the rigs and we are draggin up and going home because as of now we are banned and it is over...
i will be along shortly. i sat on my snow machine and looked across the land that was once mine. yeah i treed a lion in this drainage and over there.i remember this like it was this morning.... i cried.... yep just just like a little kid.... i swore i would go after any and all who was responsible for removing my heart and sole on the mountain that day. i promised i would put the same energy into fighting those people as i put into owning and training a top big game pack....little did i know 16 years later the bigger threat is not hsus...but our own odfw. i often hear folks referencing "my passion"......you have no clue.....these odfw people think they are going to continue to hire the hunting done and i'm going to roll over... as for odfw....i'll meet them in hell if i have to..i didn't need anyone to hold my hand in the wilderness lion hunting, i sure as hell don't need it now in salem either.i'm not going to get mad...just even...

Mike you know where I stand and if you need anything just give me a buzz. I just want to say thank you for everything you are doing and trying to accomplish for all of us. Please let me know what i can do to help. I have been gettin the same answers from odfw, "the run around" and I am constantly learning and educating myself. It is the best thing any sportsman can do for him/herself. People, just do a little research and educate yourselves and then take a look at the picture again and tell me what you think. Mike is fighting tooth and nail for you, me, and everyone so lets give the man some help! Thanks again for all you do mike. Take care buddy and hope to hear from you soon.
