Hello everybody
Hello everybody
Hello everyone I am new to biggame forums my name is Brett and I live in Oregon. I am new to hunting hounds and got a 11 month old walker 2 days ago, my question is he constantly barks when I'm not within sight of him, the guy I got him from kept him with his other dogs so i know he's not used to being alone but I can't have him barking constantly, it took me 2 years to talk my wife into this and she's gonna kill me if he barks all night. If any one has any ideas I would greatly appreciate it, I've thought about a bark collar but don't know if that would ruin him? Thank you

Re: Hello everybody
I have a neighbor that is hard to please in that department, and every other one for that matter.I tried everything from bark collars to muzzles. Both work but can cause staff infection if left on to long with some dogs. The collars seem to only work for a while then the dogs learn to bark through it .The best thing is to consistently disilpine .Problem with that is you cant be home all the time.Hard to get the wife and kids to do it .Finaly have a different bloodline of hounds and most of my problems have gone away. But as far as any of this ruining him .It wont as long as the collars and the dicipline are done right.Good luck.

Re: Hello everybody
ya hes lonely, just tell the wife you need another hound. lol. just kidding. ive used bark collars with success. but like larry said, it can cause infection or sores if left on to long. while you are away, i would put on the bark collars, and while your home id take them off and let him know its not ok. consistency is key. and if your wondering no, barkin collars will not effect barking while hunting. good luck
