Re: Blueticks
There are several lines of Blueticks that work good on bear.I personally hunt heavy Smokey River and Little Arkie Smokey River blooded dogs.

Re: Blueticks
If I was only going to hunt bear, I'd go with Cameron Blueticks and maybe Cameron/Walker cross for track drifter speed. Grit factor is important if you're in an area where you don't get easy pop ups.

Re: Blueticks
I have a Cameron x Moats male bluetick that is a great bear dog. Crossed him with a heavy linebred Uchtman Hornet female and the bear hunting pup buyers are thrilled with them at 8 months. They say there's no quit in them and they are very gamey.

Jason,
I think John should take you up on that. lt would be good for her. I will be done with her by Mid September. If not you are more then welcome to take mine with you. Never been on bear before thou. She will tree hard and run a track fast on coon.. Good strike dog, but you may end up with a coon or anything else that will run fast in front of her...lol..lol...
Take care..

Re: Blueticks
I think I will have the same problem with Haliey, we went out last sunday without a strike all day. Then on the way home she struck from the box at 40mph. About 50 yds up the road I saw a big fat coon run into the brush
I guess thats not really a bad thing, just not good when bear season comes around.
