LOL... some people

ok folks.. one PEN DOGS RUN TOTALLY DIFFERENT... they slice and cut!! non stop!!! they don't worry with single tracks for the most part and most of them wont fight!! they bay.. they don't like to kill game in pens for the most part.. now i know everyone has a story...but for the most part pen dogs just run... thats it... 2......... the day a coon dog out run my july/walker hounds i will give you a big penny... and im willing to lay 1 grand on that this febuary!!! and if you boys take them "Tree dogs" out to texas where they SURE ENOUGH GOT SOME FAST DOGS.. you will here your dogs MAYBE MAYBE a minute, cause there just going to run trying to keep up...now i coon hunt, and run yotes on a regular basis, i've seen them "fast coon dogs" and friend.. the fact that you'll think you'll can keep up with a dog that runs so fast that we can't keep up with them with TRUCKS its BEYOUND!!! HISTARICAL!! but i will say i use a old coon dog that wouldn't tree to start my PUPPIES WITH THAT WAY THEY CAN KEEP UP!! and hes considered pretty fast for the cooning world

none of this isn't said rudely.. i mean true im sure you'll have some good races.. but reality is reality..... no way in HELL is a coon dog going to out run a walker or july... and if it even does by some means, its one of two things .. 1... there some sorry runnig dogs... 2. it ain't going to happen day in and day out

alot of them boys running coon dogs for yote will out run trigs.. hell triggs are fast.. but not like walkers and julys.. thats why everyone who runs yotes have them... and if your like me i mainly run pot lickers... half july half walker....

NEVER BRING A KNIFE TO A GUN FIGHT!!

take care :beer
"if you want a hound that will fly; run the julys"

"a july is a walker dogs WORST night mare!!"

"walkers think there the fastest, till the here the july open up past them"

"MOST WALKER BOYS ARE HUNTING JULY'S IN Disguise!!"

GOT TO LOVE THEM JULY DOGS :)

kordog wrote:grouse you will have to ask the strout boys downeast maine they run my line treeing dogs on coyotes and bobcat i dont run coyotes but know they get that many every winter from after deer season to last snowfall .my other friends that use running dogs dont get as many they live in appleton maine . there running dogs are getting put back to the truck , there going silent from being scared , dont have nose enough on those cold hard conditions in winter . have i seen a running dog that met the criteria the answer is yes his name was ringo owned by mike dodd of union maine catch kill coyote dog he was the exception to running dogs around here. so pick your strain dont generalize all treedogs or running dogs being the same . i know there are running dogs out there that would impress me .

Yes, no doubt the Strout boys kill a pile of yotes every winter, but they are running mostly in wide open blueberry fields. Also, when there are 10 to 15 guys surrounding a block of woods, the yote doesn't stand a chance. Just because someone is killing that many yotes, doesn't mean their dogs are catching. lol, it might mean the lead is what is doing the catching. It sure helps the deer herd though. lol.

wide open blueberry fields if that was the case all you would need is greyhounds . coyotes hold to cover here in maine for the most part .maybe you ought to see the dogs go before you run your mouth.

you still didnt say if you had seen the dogs run ? you have no excuse living that close . coyotes dont just run on open barrens all day dont be foolish . if you think they dont have some good coyote hounds your fooling yourself . next town up sounds like a little jealousy . living down there you OUGHT TO SEE FOR YOURSELF .someone always wants to take a shot at ya when your doing good.

I never once said they didn't have good hounds. I said, just cause they are killin yotes, don't mean the dogs are catching. Jealous? Not really, as I said, it does help the deer herd out. I am usually looking for cat tracks instead of yote tracks. To answer your question, No, I haven't seen the hounds, but I have seen, and heard "The Army" in action and I usually try to stay away from places with that much lead flying around. I hunt with just a couple people, but hey, to each their own.

well you will have to excuse me for getting a little touchy when someone shits on my bloodline of dogs that ive been working on for 15 years without seeing them run . paul thomas of smithfield hunts with my bloodline for cat . just him and one other guy and catches quite a few . galon out of milbridge dont know his last name . ask him about his champ dog . scott briggs in sorrento ask him about angel . there all down east where you are. i go and see dogs perform a few times before i say what dogs can or cannot due . take your empty conclusions and shove em you know where ! ive worked to hard on these dogs for this crap.

Kordog , calm down . he never said your blood line was'nt any good but there is no way in h --l that a tree dog is gonna keep up to a running dog on yotes . Unless it's in a wide open blueberry patch .

what is this open blueberry ground got to do with it ? these guys would just use greyhounds if it was open running . and no i wont calm down . call the strouts and see how dissapointed they are . this is what caused this whole stupid conversation . being dissapointed with treehounds for coyote . its just not the case for alot of coyote hunters.downeast maine has some thick terrain that the coyotes like to stay in . these guys run cat also with the same dogs which they need treehounds for . or are these bobcats just running around the open blueberry ground too? saying every running dog is fast is as ridiculous as saying every treedog is slow .

and i thought PA was the blueberry capitol of the world all this time. thanks for clearing that up . thats right you caught us the bobcats and coyotes run up to us in the open blueberry fields and sit down beside the truck so we can shoot them then we sick are mollases slow treehounds on to them so they can get fur in there mouth finally . we made the mistake of shooting a coyote on a hill one time and the dead coyote rolled down it when we sicked are mollasses slow treehounds on it they never did catch it sure wish we had a running dog there to save the day    we had to actually get out of the truck ,and walk down over the hill to get it . we still beat are mollasses slow treehounds back to the truck by a half hour .so we just told stories while we waited of when ol dollar was neck and neck with a turtle and won the race .i will surely miss that old treehound as he was the fastest we ever had .

We all know how thick those patches can get thats why it's so hard for those fast runners they start burning threw those blueberry bushes and keep tripping up , where those slow pounding tree dog's just plooood along
