ANYONE ON HERE FROM NORTH OR SOUTH CAROLINA

Post by BEAR HUNTER »

Been thinking about getting out of California. Property in North and South Carolina looks reasonable. Hoping Some of you guys can give me some info on the weather, type of game, etc. Would appreciate it.

I LIVED IN BOTH. SOUTH CAROLINA IS HOTTER THAN HADES.BEAR SEASON IS ONLY 1 WEEK LONG. EVERYBODY RUNS THEM ALL YEAR LONG UNDER THE COON HUNTING RULE,BUT YOU ARE OUT EVERY NIGHT IN LOTS OF SNAKES. HOG HUNTING IS GOOD EVERYWHERE AND THE SEASON IS YEARLONG..YOU BUY 1 HUNTING LISCENSE AND IT IS GOOD FOR ALL GAME.$50 CATCH ALL THE FISH YOU WANT,KILL 3 BEARS,5 TURKEYS,UNLIMITED DEER AND HOGS.=GOOD DEAL WESTERN NORTH CAROLINA IS BEAUTIFUL,MUCH COOLER IF YOU MOVE TO HIGH ELEVATION. TONS OF PUBLIC LAND.KILL SEASON FOR BEAR LAST A LONG TIME.SEEMS LIKE IT WAS 2-3 MONTHS.LESS GAME IN THE MOUNTAINS AND LOTS OF HUNTERS BUT SURE IS NICE THERE. WILD BOAR WITH RUSSIAN ANCESTRY HAVE A KILL SEASON. DOG HUNTING IS A TRADITION IN BOTH STATES AND WILL BE SOME OF THE LAST PLACES YOU CAN DO IT LEGALLY. I MOVED TO COLORADO 3 YEARS AGO. RUINED MY HUNTING WITH DOGS AND WAS A BIG MISTAKE! IT IS TOO MUCH LIKE CALIFORNIA. GOOD LUCK, IF YOU GOT ANY SPECIFIC QUESTIONS PM ME I CAN TELL MOST ANYTHING.

i have lived in western north carolina for 27 years. our bear population is on the verge of out of control. we can train on bear from aug 15 to oct 1 then kill them from the second week in oct to the week before thanksgiving and then again from the 2nd week in dec to jan 1. limit is one per person. we have tons of coon. same training season as bear but kill season is second week in 0ct to the last day of feb. hogs are only required to be tagged in three counties where there considered native. we have deer in certain places. we also have bobcats but not many ppl run them on purpose but the season on bobcats is same as coon. you will see groups kill between 10 and 50 bears a season. tons of public land and good ppl. hope this helps out.

oh yea the weather aint all that bad summer max is bout 90 but really humid, fall is great just need a light jacket and dogs can run all day, winter is cold low can be down in the single digits, snow varies. from 2 to 3 inches up to bout three feet in some places, our deepest snow this year was 2 foot but on the mountain tops bout 4 to 5 not counting the drifts. spring is also great. lots and lots of turkey and the temperature don't get to high and the mornings are still rather cool. we have great trout fishing and several fishable lakes. we do have alot of hunters but most are very ethical.

NC bear hunting = Coastal NC. Big bears and a lot of them, thick woods and swamp. a lot of bear hunters with a whole lot of dogs and a passion for hounds that you would not beleive. we hunt everything with hounds. even deer hunt with dogs but it is a lot different than tree and bay style hunting. deer dogs chase until the deer is killed, it is an age old traddittion that will hopefuly never end. there is no time or place on earth i would rather be than in eastern NC running a bear.

the deer heard is out of control so much that they took the bag limit off of deer this year, deer season starts on september 11 and goes until january 1. you can shoot 4 bucks and all the does you want.

greatest place on earth. but this is where i was born and raised so i am kinda partial to it. the outer banks area around Nags Head, NC is a great place to go for a vacation. it is right on the ocean and the Alligator River National Wildlife Refuge is only about a 20 minute drive. that place is suppose to have one of the highest number of bear per square mile in north America. i dont if it does or not but it aint nothing to ride over there and see 30-40 bears in one afternoon
