What breed is the most growely or alligator
I am a little color blind but the worst that I have seen is the competition bred walkers the house lipper mostly tree fighting sob they seem to wanna be dominant over everything
Dont get me wrong I aint just picking on walkers I have seen all breeds do these things but I see it more in those dogs I own what people say are the most growely or alligator dogs (plotts) but dont seem to have that problem they will stand there ground when another dog starts it but they never start it
Im sure there are certain blood lines go all breeds that have this irritating problem just want more opinions other than my own

as much as i hate to say it since you own plotts but thats what i would have to go with. of coarse it does happen in all breeds. just in my own personal experiences it has been plotts. not saying every strain does that just the ones i've been around.

It aint the breed its the BEARS! Bears bring out the worst in dogs for some reason.

Big mike I have to totally one hundred percent have to disagree with that what is your theory behind what you say I have seen those dogs reproduce the same kind as them weather hunted on coon lion or bear its in the blood speaking from experience what your saying is every bear dog is growely or an alligator or bad on the tree sorry but that is nonsense I am sure every bear hunter or breeder would agree with me on this one its called a bad trait or gene in the breeding

No, Big Mike is right. Not that there aren't strains that are growlier than others. But I'm not going to say a breed neccesarily either, I can see where this is going. A BIG PISSIN MATCH!

I think Plotts get a bad rap. Just because they usually finish it does not mean they started it. There are growely dogs in all beeds and if left uncorrected it will only get worse. Worse dog I ever seen was a high tan grade dog.

I have to agree with Yard Dog on this. There is good and bad in every breed. Its just like saying a pit bull is bad. I hunt a majority of plott blood. I always have and i always will. I have seen good and bad with ALL breeds. I would say it just depends on how you bring your dog up. If you do nothing but bad things and treat your dogs like poo they are going to be bad mannored. I have seen how people treat there dogs here in CA and the ones who treat them like they are a dog, not just some tool, they seem to have a way better temperment than the ones that are not treated right.

its not the bears its those edgey dogs that sometimes make beardogs is what your talking about mike jmop., the growliest ive seen have been plotts .the funny thing is in my experience the best beardogs are the most calm non growly type dogs that save it for the game they are very confident in themselves so they dont have to put on airs to other hounds . but if another dog bites them hold the hell on . there are prikish type dogs in every breed . alot of it stems from non confidence. other hounds are just plain mean.maybe plotts are just more vocal about there anxiety cause alot of it never goes any further than a growl .getting in to the dog box is where ive seen most of it happen . then silence .
Re: What breed is the most growely or alligator
My .02: I would say it isn't breed, but strain. There are growly dogs in every breed of hound....the problem is when breeding don't breed growly dogs....its bad genetics...I will agree that alot of it has to do with how a dog is raised, but alot of people have bred this bad behavior into hounds. They have crossed them with pitbulls and rots to make them more aggressive on a mean bear....well pitts were bred to fight.
There's to many people that will put up with a growly dog just because its a "good dog". That's fine, but don't breed this dog. There are alot of excellent hounds out there that aren't mean or growly that catch game. You don't have to have an alligator to catch a bear. That being said I think Plotts

I agree on the plotts being mean. Also quite a few blueticks I've been around have been good for nothing but fighting and f'ing.

I hunt all Plotts and I dont own a one that will start a fight, but I got some that will damn sure finish one.

Re: What breed is the most growely or alligator
I think it has a lot more to do with the person that keeps the dogs, rather than the breed. Lots of guys mistake agressive behavior and fighting, with grit. I know a guy that had a growly dog... He said "He's allowed to growl in the box and at the tree, he's earned it."
That kind of thinking makes a lot of growly alligators. It's funny there is such a problem with this... it's real easy to fix, if you get after em young.
Take care.

Re: What breed is the most growely or alligator
i don't buy into the bears being the cause that just makes no sense period. all breeds can be growly. if more hunters would put a bullet in the growly or alligator dogs instead of tolerating it and then breeding it the problem may not be as bad. jmo

Re: What breed is the most growely or alligator
From what i see cross breeds walkers blueticks blackandtans....Reason plotts get the bad rapp is because there there own breed.....They didnt come from the same foundation of dogs there rest of them did!!!!
I've had plotts for over 15yrs and i never have problems with them fighting...People say plotts because they know they are superior to the other breeds!!!
