seen a bald eagle take a pass at a barn yard lion out in a hay field the cat got away from eagle but it didnt live. riped some hide off with tallon holes in the cat just an idea

After talking with Dad about this, your theory is exactly what he thinks probably happened.
In years past he has caught Sows with unusual scaring or woulds on the back of the neck. These usually coincided with the breeding seasons.
Also years ago we raised a Tom till he was 3. A friend had a Sow and we put them together when she was in heat. Ali and Frazier did not do as much damage in fighting each other, as they did....however 3 healthy kittens arrived from this encounter!
