question for breeders

Post by Conejos »

I just got a new pup yesterday! I sold my female bluetick plott cross to a kid last year on the condition that he let me get her bred this summer and get a pup out of her. This was her second litter. I bred her to a bluetick out of Van Johnsons blood. My question is this, she is a brindle plott looking dog. She threw pups with all the colors of the rainbow!lol
There was a pup that was black and white looked like a walker bluetick cross, there were a couple of redticks lookin pups, two black and tans, and the rest looked bluetick. Is that normal? To my knowledge she never was in the vicinity of any other intact male other than the bluetick. Is it because both parents are mixed breed? These pups should be dinamite I can't wait! Just thought I would pick your brains on this? Thanks

Yep completely normal. I had bred a black and white bitch to a redbone and got a mix of everything from brindle, B&T, reds, you name it. When you mix breeds and colors you never know what you are going to get. I had a couple other litters that were 3/4 redbone and 1/4 mixed and even though both parents were red I got some redticks and even a B&T looking one. So you never know
