I just bred my 3/4 Camp a while catahoula 1/4 kemmer to B. Bruno's pure Camp a while Catahoula. The Camp a while blood on my side comes from B. Cardozas Blue. The other blood comes from T. Carters Dodger's line.

Blue won the one and only open bay Championship in california, Taking the open amateur bay and then the open pro. He also ranked number one at the california NALC bay. He was purely a hunting dog but ended up being a good arena dog as well.

Theres no guarantee in anything but im hoping this will give me what ive been trying to continue. My females mothers bloodline is all but gone. She died only leaving one female pup (my female). The rest of that bloodline has been lost through breeding basically making her line unrecodnizable. My female still holds the mental and physical traits of her mother and father. Bruno's male carries a lot of what her father had. Im no breeder and will never claim to be. Im just trying to make the best with what I know. Hope the breeding takes. I will just wait and see.

i have a female that is mostly (camp-a-while) with some ( lionheads ) blood grand sire was camp-a-while's Elvis. my bitch banjie became my lead strike bay/catch dog i would really like to breed her with another camp-a-while catahoula with the same traits or get a pup from yall with the same traits ? she has a really good nose ,heart ,and a lot of grit
she came into heat in march but i would rather hunt then lay her up and deal with pups during winter/hunting season i would only breed in the off season

My females father is out of Elvis. Im in the middle of closing escrow on a house so my female coming into heat and breeding her now is perfect. I will be busy moving and working on the new place for the next few months so I wont be hunting a whole lot. Having the pups wont hinder much.

I'm new to this site and just now registered mostly because of this post. This is my first post here. I'm originally from Louisiana and I've been keeping and breeding NALC reg. Catahoulas since I was 16, 47 now. I have two reg. Camp-A-While dogs left in my kennel, the male I got from Sherry Bando herself, Cuttin Buck X Sasafrass; the female is his daughter Zeb X patches, and she is an all world cowdog, and will sure go to a hog too. she is 3/4 Camp-A-While and 1/8 Toler's Red Man on some very old lines that I had. Toler's Red Man was considered the best hog dog in SE Georgia by many for a long time, both in and out of the pen. Frankly I was getting a little worried that I might lose my lines if something happen to my male Zeb, since Sherry is out of the bussiness for the most part. I really liked dealing with her when I needed dogs and she is as good and honest as the day is long.

Anyway, after I saw this post I thought it would be good to be able to contact others who know just how good these dogs are and want to preserve these blood lines. I would be interested in breeding both of my dogs to good Camp-A While or other hard hunting Catahoula lines. I am a certified NALC breeder so I won't entertain any cross breeding and will only breed my dogs to NALC reg. Catahoulas. I'm located in SE New Mexico, near Artesia. Thanks for the read and Hunt Hard!

Camp-a-While blood lines from the original Kennel are still around I believe... Diamond W Ranch bought out the Kennel. At least that is what their website says.

http://www.diamondwcatahoulas.com/

"Diamond W Catahoula would like to Thank You for visiting our web site. We would like to inform everyone that Ms. Sherry has retired and moved to New Mexico. We have acquired the camp and the rest of the brood stock. We will continue to work hard at maintaining and supplying high quality, well breed working and hunting dogs."

Yes, I'm aware of that, and have spoken with Sherry since she moved to Santa Fe. I was just hoping to connect with some Camp-A-While or other high quality NALC Catahoula hunters and breeders closer to home and hopefully more reasonably priced on their pups or maybe even willing to trade breedings. I don't know about you guys but I'm having to watch my spending a little more these days and I can't see things getting a whole lot better in the near future. I don't mind driving some, but don't want to go that far anymore and shipping cost are astronomical these days. Ron

Acadian,

I don't have any NALC registered dogs(this may be the first time I wish I did), but I would like to drop by and look at your dogs and visit with you some time next time I am in Artesia if you don't mind. I usually get down in that part of the state about once a year or so.

Also, if you would like to put your dogs on a hog, I am inviting you to bring them up sometime. I would also like to see them work cattle sometime. I am up near Clayton, NM, if memory serves correctly it is only about a 7 hr drive from artesia.

Bill, you are more than welcome to come by my place anytime you like and see my dogs, I really need to get my female bred in the near future. I only have 2 left and I don't want to lose these lines. Drop me a line here before you come down and I'll give you my contact numbers. Ron Guidry

Ron,

Thanks for the welcome. I have some catahoulas that I like quite a bit, for both cattle and hogs, unfortunately, they are not registered, so I can't help you in that regard.

Good luck finding a dog you like to breed to.
