West Siberian Liakas

Has anyone ever heard of or hunted this breed? How do they work out? Pros Cons? Where can you find them and how much do they normally run?

A lot of very good information on that website pops.

My 2 cents tlewis_2003:
Be real careful what bloodline/parets you chosse pups out of. BIG differencenses......
WSL dont go deep and dont "stick" with game for long distances. Remember this breed come from the most wolfdence area in the world, so the specimens that had the desire to go far looking for game or stick with it deep into the mountains, would get killed before they got into the breedingcycle.

WSL are known for needing A LOT of socialication, to both humans and dogs to awoid problems.......

Some turn wolf................

They are super locators and kind of tight, so there is no doubt if there is a bobcat or a coon in the tree if a WSL barks at it.

They are super super fast. Hunts with all sences, but are very hot nosed. - Bred to use nose, ears and eyes to locate the game of desire that is closest to you.

WSL are more smallgame dogs and ESL's are more biggame dogs.
I just picked up a East Siberian Laika 1,5 months ago. I'll see if I can get a pickture of her and post it here.

Well this started out as a WSL tread, so I dont know if tlewis_2003 likes it if it strays to far from the original topic.....

I'll shoot you a PM with some thoughts on them ESL's.

I don't care if the post strays off topic. I just seen hunting dogs I have never heard of before and was curious about info is all. I might try one someday but not running right out to get one. The mutts in my yard work just fine for now.
