Garmin Issue

Post by bency »

For those of you that are using the Garmin...well I have already replaced 4 long range antennas, they all some how snap in half...every time you purchase them they send you the whole antenna with cord and all.
So my question is there anywhere that you can just buy the telescopic antenna part that connects to the hand part of it. And I was already looking at Antenna Farm but I dont think they carry the part im looking for.

thanks,
mike.

I was out once and broke mine. a buddy of mine had one of those old school beep boxes with the giant antenna. the attatchment for the garmin was the same as the beep box antenna, it fit and it worked. I have been debating just buying one of those. you would think as easy as it disconnects they would make a replacement.
"Houndn'Ems Blueticks" if it smells like a cat, they'll catch it.

Guys,

Go down to Radio Shack....for $14 you can get a telescoping Ant. that works just fine....I get 2 to 3 miles of service with it open the proper length (read the instructions that come with it. They will tell you the proper length for the Garmin) and laying on our dashboard.

If I hold it out the window up in the air....I get 3 to 5 miles of service on some Collars(for some reason some Collars just are not as strong as others).

This Ant. is somewhat stouter than the Garmin and attaches directly to the Garmin Handle!

Hope this helps...we use it just about everday and it stand up to Hard Use!

tcinkgm,

No im not really getting the same range I do as with the Garmin long range antenna Tony, but thanks though.

Dads dogboy,

I already bought those ones at radio shack and they arnt worth the drive down there...but thats just my experience with them.

Piglet,

I called buddy and talked with him and he said I just have to re-buy the whole antenna.

Sorry I didn't want to post anything until I got to see them for myself first..

These are the Smiley Antenna's.. their Customer service sucks! but after 2 weeks I finally got them to Send me some and take my money!

They sent the wrong rubber duck antenna, but the Right LR antenna to me.. I'll be sending back the Rubber Ducks to get the ones with the Right connector on them..

For the LR antenna replacements:
I just recieved 5 of them. they are more heavy duty than the stock ones.. At least they are allot more Thicker..

They Just arrived today, I only ordered 5 of them to see what they were before I ordered more.. But I like them and will be ordering some more of them. Tommorrow.

Bency,

What was wrong with your Radio Shack Ant? We use ours pretty darn Hard and are pleased so far.

Buddyw,

Give us a report on the Smiley as two fellows that I have talked with did not get along with them very well.

What is the price on a LR Smiley?

I just got off the phone with Bency, Sounds like He has one of these Smiley's and he wasn't impressed with the range..

I don't know I'm going to try and test them some before I put my name on them..

I want to test the range of the DC30 and DC40.. So I'll try and do the test with these different antennas also..

It's Hard to test range..

Price wise I can sell them Same price as what smiley is selling them for.. Just better Customer service! ;)
