michigans opens up on october 1st. i think i will be able to get out there the opening night. im excited to see how my pup will do. im going to be running him with another dog or two that is seasoned and know what they are doing. i hope he can learn something and something right. he will be just under 7 months old. he does follow scent really well right now but dont stay at the tree.

good luck to everyone, happy hunting and be safe.

Finally had time to get out a couple of trips. 2 for 3 so far. 1st trip she cold trailed for about 2 hrs up the creek and i pulled her off and went home. Had to work in a.m.. Next time out went well jump and treed just a bit off the road and on a old grade so easy walk. Next trip got fun. Treed the same coon 3 times. He treed bought 70 yds from road first time. Headed up the hill with the kids and 2 pups. Shot the buggar he fell out. Saw blood and all on the ground. Bought the time we got headed down the hill Lucy started running again. Had to be same coon cause she would not leave one on the ground. Took about a 30 min race all over the hillside before he climbed again. Lot farther walk this time and she treed up a near vertical hillside. He bailed out of this tree the instant I tried to shoot him, ran another quick race and treed in a little alder tree down in the next feeder creek. I love the little alder trees. no place to hide. To top it all off this was my sons first coon hunt he was big enough to actually walk to the tree on. The second trip up the hill he said he never wanted to go hunting again. Next morning he asked if we could go that night. Gotta love it. Still have one pup left. 100 bucks, male. Have fun don't get caught.
