Adalusion or Lipizanner studs

Postby nmplott » Sun Aug 29, 2010 9:26 pm

I am looking for a good stud to breed some of my quarter horse mares, I was told this cross is called an azteca, similar to a majestic I guess.

Bronc rider named Cory Hughes that lives in Kansas crossed a lipizanner stud to a bunch of his bucking mares about 8 years ago. Never did see any of the colts go but was told they were all real nice get in the air honest jump and kickers. Probably not what yer trying to achieve tho!

2 months ago saw a bunch of half lipizanners/arab quarterhorse/andalusions go through a local horse auction. Dumbest/Ugliest things you ever did see. Of course that could have been the Arab in em. Was a Hippy guy out of Central Ca that had decided to breed these colts to try and sell to some to these naturalilst. Didnt work. He ended up with 36 3 yr olds he couldnt get rid of. Sold em all at the auction for $50-100 each.
I have had some experience with the Andalusions. Dont care much for them. The ones I have been around tend to be hot blooded. I'm training a "Santa Cruz Island horse" for a lady now. This horse is its own breed and is about as close as you can get to the old Spanish horses that came into this country originally. My opinion on it is I wouldnt own it. Cant beat a good quarter horse unless you get a good mule.
