dogs and divorce

I'm taking notes here, not that I ever plan on giving it a 4th try, but it might help me pick a better mule.
Wife #1. Italian from New York = 3 months (I blame this on living in Alpine, Texas)
Wife #2. Hawaiian from California = 10 years (only because I stayed gone all the time)
Wife #3. 1/2 Blackfoot from Pennsylvania =11 years (Ran while I still had hair, lost it since though)

Significant other(s) #4. anything that is not human, does not scream and argue, Does not know what a credit card is.

Been married over 50 years to the same wonderful woman. Had hounds all that time too. ANYONE who chooses hounds over making their mate happy has a serious problem within THEMSELVES.

i would half to agree with where this is giong. a man should always put his family first. my wife tolerates hunting and alot of it(i pourposley work graveyard just so i can get out more during the week) but boy does she know how to make up for it. i never thought a man could live through so many chick flicks and hour long drives to the city just to save a few bucks at wally world. not to mention dishes and diaper duty and lawn mowing and MOTHER IN LAW VISITS and on and on and on but hey what is good for the goose is good for the gander in short i guess what i am trying to say is hunt all you can but by golly when your not you should be extra focused on keeping the family happy. when i am not hunting or working i feel i am going the extra mile to make up for the times i miss out with them. hopefully in a few years the ROWDY BUNCH will be as eager to load the dogs as me

If i wanted to and the dogs could handle it I would be out every day. I Just choose my hours when she is at work or when I know she is going to be gone. I have been hunting non stop since friday coming home late and leaving early. All she really asks in return from me is a hour to destress after work and go to bed with her every once in awhile. I find out conversing goes a long way with women, and just listening about there day makes herr way more understanding. I can be a cougar chaser BHP if my awesome marrige doesnt work out. I have cougar and bear hunting year round to intice you a little. LOL

Well I'm no expert on marriage, but I just celebrated my 7 year anniversary. I can say this, if you get divorced because of dogs, there were many other problems tha didn't get mentioned. Truth is, if my wife was truly unhappy with me having dogs, I'd sell every one of them, I love hounds as much as anyone but my marriage is a million times more important. That said, I think when two people love each other it's a give-take like has been mentioned. For example, my wife loves ballet. She dances almost every day. I hunt a lot. We still have 2 kids who we do about everything with and we still find 1 or 2 nights EVERY week to go out on a date, just her and I. I can promise you guys, date your wives and they'll not have a problem with your hound hunting. I'd swear by it.

Brady, Do you have a brother that is single.

Crap, sorry Tessa, I did have a single brother and he got married 2 weeks ago...no joke! haha.

Having a divorce in one relationship is so hard..Hard because many people get involve and affected. Like dogs, when couples are having argue and they make some noise like shouting i think it will affects the behavior of the dogs and it well indeed affect some pets in your home Because dogs are denied consideration when it comes to difficulties in relationships.

+1! if she don't like it she knows where the door is. if she really loves ya she will understand how much you love your dogs. if she leaves you can always find a new one when season is over. problem is my season never ends.

I done the family thing all spring, summer and winter. All I ever asked for was 30 days in the fall. Every night before I was to leave I got the "I'm leaving" "this is bull shit" "it's me or the dogs" "You like those dogs better than me" so on sept. 17, 4 years ago I came home early from work to load my dogs and there was a truck at my house. Went threw the basement and up the stairs and sat in my recliner. Waited until (from the sound of it) they were close to finishing and I yelled out "Hey, I'm going hunting and that mother ((*^&* better not drink my beer before I get back." I slammed the door and went to the lot and loaded the dogs. It took me a week but, I finally got all her shit threw out in the yard. I would throw it out in the morning and go to work. Come home and she would have it all put back.

When I met my new wife and we started talking about getting married I told her two things. Don't ever give me an ultimatum and don't cheat on me. After loosing everything I owned once the only thing that I had was my two kids and dogs. You'll loose if I have to choose between the kids, dogs and you. We work out great. I do my thing and she does hers. She's independent and doesn't need a man just like I'm independent and don't need a woman. We just like each others company. And, we love each other. AND she's a damn fine cook. She did tell me that I had to many dogs once. So I broke her from that by keeping all the pups from the last litter. She lets me sleep in if I loose my dogs. She learned to use the tracker herself and takes my truck and goes and finds them.

We also have a farm and she mows, rakes, and bales hay all by herself. Yeah, I guess she's a real peach.
