THE LEE BROTHERS, GEORGE PAVEY IS NOW ON HERE- CHECK IT OUT

Post by mike martell »

sorry guys....hunting season is open and i'm gone.....don't spend much time on here. i have been home about three days in the last month. i have finally connected with george pavey, george has been working on this project for some time. he indicated to me that he gets to rambling on about the lee's. he says he gets side tracked with things that don't pertain directly to hound hunting. i don't think it matters myself. i think adding true life experiences will only enhance this deal.

george said t.v. didn't exhist or at least with them. he said they just created their own entertainment. setting up a horse to buck you off or many other practical jokes. george said he is working with a lady on the transcripts that didn't like the language he used.....gol darn and gol dang? george said they didn't curse much. he said he is going to produce these on a c.d. the book deal requires quite a bit of capitol investment and george thinks doing these 500-1000 at a time would be best.george is more interested in getting this information to all of you vs. doing a book and have to charge $50 dollars to break even... i agree.

george is also sending me a tape for allowing each of you to listen to one of the tales prior to purchasing a c.d. the only problem on my end is linking it up on here. i will be looking for one of you guru's to assist me with this.

just so you all understand....i don't make a penny off of this nor would i. george is wanting nothing but to cover his expences. this was prompted by myself staying with george a couple of summers back. i drove another old hound hunter from oregon to lava hot springs idaho who also hunted with the lee's to visit with george. i'm glad i did...he is no longer mentally stable and it is now down to george. i kick myself all the time for being to busy to stop hunting long enough to take the time to drive to tucson arizona to meet dale before he passed. thanks for reading and looking for some input to give back to george. mike

side note. as this gets going several things need to happen. first things first. buddy owns this site and this cost him money, we all understand this. i don't want to cross the line without permission to advance forward, agreements to promote here will be between buddy and the author are imminent. details will need to be worked out. just like the ultimate hunter magazine. you think will be easy, it's not. no experts just plain folks trying their best. just a little more complicated with copyright infringements etc. this will take some time to hash this all out. i'm thinking a c.d. can be available soon. maybe even a complted book as well.

thanks mr sizer for your insightfull input. thanks for being another volunteer helping to make this happen. mike

Put me down too Mr Martell,
but only for a book......I have a hard time listening, if you know what I mean

Regarding the non hunting and off the wall incidents, those are what make a good book great.
I don't think the majority are looking for a "how to" textbook, but stories and maybe tips along the way of how things were done in the past.

zach. thank you for contacting high lonesome books. looks like doing a book is not all that expensive or at least to my way of thinking. i will be in contact with george and look into doing a book instead of a c.d. preserving the early heritage warrants the investment. i think if you can sell a c.d. for fifteen dollars and a book for twenty. why not print a book.george has about 90 minutes of transcrips now. this would be a starting point only. as we all know cost increase as things progerss. will try and keep you all posted on the progress.

we have any experience out there with any one ever doing a book deal?

This is George Pavey, I setup my account today to be able to converse with you all. I spoke with Mike Martell last week and decided I needed to make some progress....so this is my first step in doing so. The 3 years that I spent with Dale Lee hunting in Mexico, Arizona, and New Mexico was a time in my life that I have always treasured. In that 3 years we spent nearly everyday together. During that time I had many expereinces which I hope to relate to you folks as time goes by. I told Mike that I had approximately 90 minutes worth of tapes transcribed and that this will not be all that I plan on doing. It seems as though once I get started talking about my experiences I amaze myself on the detail I am able to recall about that period of time. Example: In the summer of 1959, we were camped in the Santa Rita mountains southwest of Tucson. Dale had begun to work with an engineer from the Univeristy of Arizona on the use of an electronic dog collar. Our control box was 4x4x10" and had a 9' antenna (really handy to use off a mules back... lol.) The box only had an on and off switch and no high or low. Just HIGH and we didn't have a tester. So.....when we would get ready to ride for the day and take the electronic device, Dale would have me go out about 75 yards or so, and have me hold the contact points on the dog collar. If I jumped 3'off the ground, we knew it was working. After numerous times of this testing process I said to Dale one morning "Dale why don't you go out and I will do the buttons on the controls" and he said to me "Now George....you realize that this is a highly sophisticated piece of equipment and you have not been properly trained." Good times.....More to come.

well it sounds like george is finding his way to his daughters computer. he called sunday and asked if his post showed up here. i told him no it didn't. he is going to log in under spotted cat. he is also going to post his e-mail address in arizona when he gets down there in october any one wanting updates or input can contact him. he said he was disappointed and will try again. he said he wanted to relate the story of dale inventing the first shock collar that later went on to be tri-tronics. interesting stuff. i will let mr. pavey do the story tellin..... this will be good to involve him and get me out of here.

Mr. Pavey,
I know Terell Shelly of Cliff, Nm. used to hunt with Dale. You may even know him. If not let me know and I will get you in contact with him. He is pretty close to Dales' daughter. He may be able to contribute some stories or in other ways. I'm glad your doing this and you can count me in for one of whichever you decide to do.

Hi Shorty in So. TX, in answer to you talking about Mr. Shelly, I dont recall the name the first summer and fall hunt out of Clee's ranch on blue river,Clee's daughter judy was there as well as katharine's daughter Rose. both of the girls were from fourteen to sixteen years old. i think rose is still on the blue.if you can find out judys location i would contact her. I seen on here somewhere that dale also had a daughter. dale had no children.thanks for your reply and if I can help with any more info don't hesitate to ask. george pavey

Hi there Silent Mouth, that ad on Lee WonderWand Dog collar was intereting, never saw it before. It would be interesting to know what year this ad came out. The picture of the ad of the device is of a unit which is much smaller than the one I described so I am assuming that this was a much improved model than the one we first tried. Thanks for the information. Aw the good old days. George Pavey
