Lion foot

Post by FullCryHounds »

Had some lion feet and got an idea to let the beetles clean them up. I did one at a time so I could use the other foot as a model to put the first one back together then finished the second one.
The first thing that jumped out at me was the metatarsal bones. If you look at each one, they have an area where the claws retract into. Never knew this before until now.

That is one of the coolest things I think I have seen. Would be interesting to do the same to a bear foot and see the difference between them.

Good idea, Dr. Brennan would be proud lol!

Working on some bear feet right now. They look really neat because the nails are black so there is a nice contrast.

I look forward to seeing the difference between what I know bear and lion feet to look like, and what the bone structure is.

Cool pictures. About 8 years ago in Fresno I was on patrol when a call came out of some human hands lying in the road down in S/E Fresno. Officers responded and found two skinned hands in the middle of the road. Was out of my area so I couldnt go. Long story short they shipped them off to get tested. Story going through the neighborhood and department was a possible serial killer. Turns out an Hmong guy killed a bear during deer season. Was going to cook the feet and they somehow ended up out in the street.

Sure are interesting to look at. Nice post!

Years ago, I lived in a neighborhood full of wholesale butcher shops in Brooklyn, NY. One day a bovine rib cage fell off the truck that hauled bones away to the fertilizer plant. Next thing you know, two squad cars with 4 cops pull up and are calling in that they have human remains! LOL I leaned out the window from four stories up and pointed out the rib cage wasn't human. The city slickers didn't believe me! I pointed to the rib cage, then to the pudgiest cop, and asked if they looked the same; then pointed out we were 3 blocks from the row of wholesale butchers; then reported that my parents raised beef cows. Bet the coroner was surprised when his dinner arrived raw!
