Post by hogwild »

i was looking into a couple dogs that are cross bred. sire is a walker and dam was a plott. i've never had cross bred dogs before and was wondering if anyone has had positive results crossing the two breeds and if so what type of hunters are they. any opinions or information would be greatly appreciated. :beer

It doesn't matter about the breeds you cross together, it matter on weather the parents are good hounds and weather the pups can be trained to be good dogs.

My dad had a couple Walker/Plott crosses, they were dang good dogs, I feel it is a very ugly cross, but that is just my oppinion

I have owned 2 Walker/Plott cross dogs both were awsome dogs fast, gritty, smart dogs. I also know a guy that had one that was the biggest cull I have ever seen. Its like any cross you dont know what you are going to get till its done and the pups have been trained. All you can do is take the best male and cross to the best female and hope you get a few worth hunting.
