Bear weight.
I was recently told by an older houndsmen that if you weighed the bear hide, leaving paws and head attached and times it by five it would put you within 25# of the bears whole weight. Just curious if anyone else has tried this. There are lots of variables ie how much fat is left on hide, how much neck meat is left on ect. Might be a good experiment to try this fall. Any input would be appreciated.
Id rather be lucky than good!!!

Re: Bear weight.
If you times it by 3 its alot closer. I weighed a hide and head a couple of years ago that was 87 lbs the bear weighed just over 250 lbs unskinned on the scales at the cooler. I ve got one here right know that weighs 67 lbs and the bear was 227 lbs ungutted on my scales at camp.
