Hello Ike
We haven't been getting as much snow as I would like. However, the snow combined with all the wind sure makes hunting tough.
Just got back from hunting down in central New Mexico and once again we got snowed out of the high country for the second year in a row.
I hope you're able to still get out and tree some long tails with all the snow you're getting. I sent you a PM I hope it went through.
Take care

Scratch,
I did get you message, as it came through Ok. Sorry to hear the weather didn't work out for you down in New Mexico, better luck next time.
I've slowed down on the cat hunting until spring other than when I have to gogot to where I just hate wading through the deep snow. The hounds have started rigging about every lion that crosses and running in the dry weather suits me.
Stay in touch,
ike

Scott has gone down to New Mexico with me for the last three years. Once again to much snow in the high country. I wish we could get some more snow (fresh) here. How do you know Scott?
Scratch
P.S. I was over near Kaycee this last Friday ... sure could use more snow over there too.

Hey Scratch,
I have known Scott for along time he used to work on the ranch that my dad works on. I have gotten dogs from scott in the past. I have a bluetick female that I got from him she is just turning 2 and is really doing well. I wish that we could get some new snow so that it would be alittle better hunting. Right now there is so much old crusty snow that its hard to get around the wind has been blowing non stop 40mph for the last month it seems like.Where were you hunting at around Kaycee? I hunt over there quit a bit.

I talked to the Game Warden from Buffalo and he gave me a few ranches over in that area that might let a person hunt.
However, when I got over there all the snow had melted. So I went and tried to get on the Hazelton road from the Arminto side but the drifts are to deep for a pickup. If they don't feel the quota I'll hunt there this spring after the snow melts off. Have you been hunting lately?

Scratch,
I haven't been out for about a week the wind has been so bad over here. I have some client's that are going to be comeing the middle of this week if the weather is right. Right now its hard to get around, too much snow for the trucks and four wheelers and not enough for the snowmobiles. I guess I might just have to saddle up some horses and go for a ride and do it that way. I like takeing the horses and dogs and going hunting but with clients that have never rode a horse its kinda hard to do. We have had a slow year only treed 1 lion all winter and no bobcats. But I guess we have alot of winter left to hunt. If they don't fill the quota at Kaycee it would be fun to get together and go hunt there this spring. I have done that in the past its alot of fun but haven't caught alot that way.

I just checked the weather forecast and hopefully we might get some snow sometime in the middle of the week. I'm in the same boat you're in I have two clients coming in Febuary 1st, I just hope we can get a fresh snow before to long.
That spring hunt sounds like a good idea, I have a couple ropin horse that I need to get into shape. Plus two years ago I had someone tell me that they had seen a large Tom in that country.
Did you say that Bluetick was female and do you remember where Scott said she/he came from? The reason I ask is I might have a litter mate to you're pup.

I checked the weather also and it looks like we might get alittle snow. I hope that we do it would help me out a bunch and probably you to it sounds like. The bluetick I got from scott is a female she will be 2 in April. She is really doing a fine job I like her alot. The name on her papers is Fred Nelson. Scott had a nice looking bluetick male that was a brother to her I think? I wouldn't be surprised if you herd there was a big tom over in that part of the country we have got some good ones out of there in the past. I haven't been over there at all this winter yet. I'v just been hunting around here there seems to be plenty of cats and it saves on the gas. Maybe we could get together and do some huntin or help each other out with these hunters send me a PM if you want to.
