First snow First cat

Post by GI Joe »

First snow of the season ended with our first cat. We started a track about 8:00 am and treeed about 11:30. The track went up a cut back so I climbed up to help the dog get started. 1/2 mile in the cat hit a rock pile. I helped the dogs move the track again when the cat ran into a blow down area. Yes I helped again and and soon after they jumped the cat. Moveing towards the dogs I realized I left the truck with nothing but my tracker. Now I'm 3 miles from the truck heading into heavey cloud cover. ALWAYS GRAB YOUR GEAR BEFORE YOU LEAVE THE TRUCK! I made the tree and expected my buddy to bring the truck around to pick us up. 1/2 hour later he shows up with all his gear and I think every thing has worked out. WRONG. He left the truck thinking we were treed just over the ridge. We were 6 miles by road from the truck. Lucky I got a ride after 3 miles walking. We crossed 4 more tracks but conditions whent bad and wasted to mutch time on the first cat. Man I love this sport! Good luck to all.
Big or small we run them all!
