fed up with weyerhaeuser locking up the country

Post by kenny »

I'm just wanting to get feed back from other oregon houndsman living in the willamete valley tired of being locked out from running bobs on there land thats surrounded by lots of public land that belongs to us. Its frustrating to think they have this much control over are free land. I hope by writing this my house don't get burnt down by weyerhaeuser. I hope to here from someone :agmnt

I don't agree with locking up any ground but it is private property. You will see more all the time because of the damage people do to others property. We are getting our BLM ground locked up around here and the Forest Service is locking up and blocking roads every where. The people have very little say any more on public ground. Hopefully you voted. WE have to get people in office that will listen to us. Dewey

Well if you fellas want to see some locked up ground, come on up here to the Seattle area. It is getting tough to find a place to hunt anything. Used to be you could walk into most places but now it is becoming the trend to lock everyone out completely. I hunt in Oregon quite a bit and I always comment how it is 20 years behind Western Washington. It won't be long before you have to drive several hours to find anywhere that is legal to hunt, just like I have to. I think more people should focus their efforts on keeping land open for sportsman. I know people are focused on it now, but I think it could always use more attention.

Folks, its happening all over, here its plum creek which i believe is the largest land investment company in the usa. Slowly, they are blocking roads, gates etc. There is no benefit, to leasing their land here, like they do in the south. I see it as this, if they want to lock the gates, its their land, but pay the same taxes as i do on my land, not 18 cents on the dollar, for forest crop. Oh, its coming, I've got a mule on standby, in case, i get a dog down or hurt, in a bigger area, at least I should be able to retrieve it, with that being said, what about our county, state or federal, our tax dollars bought, most of it is walk only.

Cat and Bear you are right about the walk only stuff. Everyone needs to be aware and educated. EVERYONE NEEDS TO VOTE!!!!!!!!!!!!! Look up the wild and scenic rivers act. I believe it was put in place in the mid 70's. When "they" drop the hammer on us, and stop letting us enjoy this "grace period", we will no longer be able to even step in a river bare foot, much less ride or drive. The wildlands project wants 50% of the North American continent human free. We are being programed for the implementation of all of these things. "They" want zero human traffic - even air traffic - above wildlife corridors. I never even heard of these corridors before the wildlands project. Today there are corridors everywhere. There are safety corridors going down the highway, where there's no safety issues. We think, what the heck. "They" think, get em used to the idea before dropping the hammer. The game departments are part of it also. The wildlands people refere to North America as "turtle island". When you see a sea turtle on the bottom of a wildlife poster, that turtle will be in pieces like a puzzle, and all of those pieces will be separated, but coming back together. That's from the folks that are shoving these things down our throats, and useing our money to do it. EVERYONE NEEDS TO VOTE!!!!!!!

The same is happening in Mn. the DNR is trying there best to shut all the trails on public land down, they seem to think that everybody should have to walk in for miles. In Mn. we need to to have some of the regional DNR management jobs be elected by the locals of each region. It makes me wonder though when they let the loggers make there own roads way back into the public land for logging  must be the revenue that makes that welcome. The DNR tries to make claim that the ATV enthusiast is destroying the landscape but the big rigs of the loggers is O.K., I am not against the loggers one bit but it sure does make oneself wonder. If we had some common sense in the DNR we would have plenty of trail systems set up for everybody to enjoy it, we have one of our candidates for Governor claiming that if elected he will push to open up some the public land back to the people, I sure hope that everyone cast their vote for him :!:

Larry,

I'm with you. I've got nothing against loggers, heck some of my hunting partners are loggers. But our county is wiping out our forests at a prett high rate. It's not select cutting either, but wiping them out so you can see a 3/4 of a mile to the wood line. Big stands of white oak trees just lopped off. Those won't ever recover in my lifetime.

Just like you guys said, the next thing they do is put a gate up. Tote roads where we used to pick up garbage so they'd stay open are now closed off. Makes no sense to me. They must not realize that without a little traffic, that a number of these trails will just grow up in a couple of years and be gone. There won't be much hiking through a grown up poplar slash.

Those gates aren't made of 10,000 lb. stone blocks. Just get some new equipment in your truck.

Two years ago I drove four miles in and had a very difficult drive to get to the other side. I was 75 yards from the next raod and I came to a gate. That made me pretty mad. You can make up the rest of the story from here. There was no gate on the side I came in to that trail...why would they put one on the other side!?! (retorical)

part of the problem is all the white trash who are to cheap to go to the dump but instead they drive 30 miles to go up in the mountains to dump there trash. its so irritating. then they wonder why people lock there gates. i hate the private property too but people need to quick being jackasses and have more repect

I think we have all had to deal with being locked out. I know I used to do some dumb crap to deal with the problem(namely superglue in locks or bolt cutters) it used to get pretty ugly had some guns pulled on me. Thank god I finally grew up and learned there are better ways to deal with things. Landowners lock their gates because people don't respect their property. If you can get to know the landowners and earn their trust then you will have it made but you ever betray that trust and you are screwed. As far as public land goes I believe we need to fight for access no matter what it takes. If it is an unjust law will you still obey? How much can we take? Or are we all being lulled to sleep by these environmentalist? Our rights are being whittled away and we don't fight because its happening so slowly and quietly that we don't realize they got us in a corner!
