I perfer House, mears, or Neosho River and a little finnly river they seem to do good for me. they have a little nose to them for lions and lots of speed and grit for the bears. but its hard for me to find the lines that i like to hunt .... i like them to have Houses Cheif as close as posibble, this dog sire many big game dogs, houses clint is good to but i dont like to much clint, iv been curently breeding Neosho river and house breed dogs with very good results.... my last cross every pup turned out to be good dogs they are turning 2 this winter, they also have a little Mears in them to...... this is just my personal preference!!!!

Get a hold of a guy named Weldon Hopman, you won't find any better line of walkers, or any other breed!

Loose Bruce or the hondo bred pups, I have seen some pretty gritty walkers out of that line.

The sacket dog we had did pretty good on bear, he loved to chew on the bears every chance he got and this was around a year old. He had a pretty good nose too.

I have two Males from the Fall river walker line. I hunt coons bear and trying to get into some cat hunting this year. Both of my dogs are under two years old and You couldnt buy them from me if you tried. I know a few of the guys that have litters mates to them and They wouldn't trade them for the world. Check out the website I know He has a select litter once or twice a year.

I've had a lot of sucess with dogs that go back to Lipper and Bozo bred dogs. Most of mine are a cross of both lines. Most of mine are all out of proven local dogs up close in the pedigree. I've seen a lot of nice Walkers from just about any line. I've also seen a lot of dogs out of a couple different lines that would make me never get another dog out of that line. Just depends on what your looking for, I'm sure you can find it.

I have hunted a couple dogs out of yadkin river geoff and know a few people who coon hunt nothing else but yadkin river. The only downfall I've seen is they are late starters. They make good straight dogs but they don't seem to start till they are 13-15 months old. I am currently hunting a 14 month old and he is starting to show the grit I was hoping for. Well mannered and easy to train. Good tree power with above average noses. Just have to be patient with them. Seem to be worth the wait.
