is this a nice sized Tom?
guys my buddy who is not a houndsmen just an avid hunter shot this lion in Montana while elk hunting. He is a resident and had a tag. I was just wondering what the experts thought if it was a nice lion or not. I live in Upstate NY and run Bobcat, Coyote and coon with my hounds every min. i am awake in the fall and winter. But.... We have no Lions and I love reading your posts and looking at the pics on the forum. And always daydream about how amazing it would be to have the chance to run a lion. Thanks to anyone that gives me a little input. Thank Rik

real hard to tell in this picture as to actual size of the cat but I would say a younger adult.
The home of TOPPER AGAIN bred biggame hounds.

Once again it's all in the eye of the hunter! Hard to say from the picture, but i'd say for a hound guy... it's a nice Lion to walk away from.
For a elk hunter who's never seen a Lion in the woods, and probably never will again... HELL YA! I'ts a NICE LION. Circomstances play a huge part in the (TROPHY FACTOR). The only hunters that are gonna be selective, and should be are the hounddoggers. Congrats to your friend!! Later, Jeff

Ya thats what I thought. He will prob never see one again. I understand completly about being selective if you are a houndsmen. I do it every night to a lesser degree. I love to coon hunt here in ny and I only shoot out the jumbo coon. Hunted all night last night and treed seven singles. Only shot out two. So I know where you guys are coming from Thanks Rik
