my name is todd
I have a catahoula mix that has been a super dog.
She is named "Ginger"

She's helped protect my yard
Run possums,
coon
and treed a bear with the help of her buddy (ol' alex)
brought back sage hens and ducks and Hungarian partridge, pheasant, quail... you name it.


While out chasing blue grouse in the hills,
she and alex wrestled down a badger
fattened up in the autumn
and full of fire

That badger was in a bad situation
Ol' Alex had it by the stern and was rag dolling it

Ging had it by the shoulder

But it had ginger by the collar (wishing it had her by the throat)

I pushed and pulled and prodded at the beasts
the badger refused to release,

and I dang sure didn't want it to "re-grip" Ginger's throat

I put my boot between the badger and my girl, and it started to hiss and struck my boot (thank god for steel toes)

I dispatched the badger


I managed to get the dogs off and drag the badger back home.


and rounded out the day with a few birds to boot!

good to be on board and have a set of hounds that twitched and dreamed about the hunt all night long by the campfire
