Shelby's buck

Postby savage » Thu Nov 18, 2010 8:33 pm

Here's my daughters buck from this year. It's her last Jr. tag here in Nevada. She had area 6 but not alot of time to hunt.We went out a few days and finally found a shooter. As we made our stalk the buck fed over the saddle we were coming over and busted us. Well while we were doing all that my friend, Dave , found a bigger buck with some does down below the one we were on he said it was right at 30". So off we went. The wind was really tough and coming from the worst direction for a stalk but we made it work.
As we were creeping over the finger ridge I saw this buck and 2 does bedded. I got her set up to shoot and she killed him in his bed at 80yards. Right then I stand up and see a really nice 4 point and all the does leaving. This is when I realized we killed the wrong buck.
Shelby is happy with this one allthough she has killed bigger. He was exactly 24" wide.( His ears were 24 1/4" wide!!!)
It was funny she has always been very calm about killing deer but she had buck fever real bad on this one. I had to tease her a bit.

Very nice buck and I'm sure sharing a father daughter hunt was the real trophy here.
