New from Eastern VA
Hi, have been checking out this forum for a while now. Decided to sign up. Live in Southeastern VA, only big game animals we have are turkeys and deer. Both are very plentiful in my county. I hunt deer mostly. We hunt deer with dogs, a very popular tradition, dates back to colonial days. I use beagles, with Garmin Astro DC30s.

I live and hunt in Prince George County, got 9 beagles. Three are short range hounds, they will usually chase 1/2 to 3/4 of a mile, the other six so far have not run more than 2 miles or so. Good thing having a couple short rangers is they come back quick and I keep on driving while the long rangers are running. One little female I got is so eat up with it, crazy thing will run herself lame. That's when I thank God for that Astro 220. There are a quite few coyotes around and I think they would kill and eat a small dog or fox if they got a chance. Pert, we don't see much sign of foxes anymore. I think the coyotes get them and I can't even remember the last time I saw a groundhog in a bean field.

Welcome Mr. Muzzleloader!
Saw that you were a fellow beagle hunter and just had to welcome you.
Try to run as much biggame as I can, but deerchases with beagles shure is a blast!
- Great way to introduce youngsters to hound hunting to!
Good luck on your future hunts,
Hans
