colorado public land
has anyone hunted around woodland park in the ramport range area my son and i were there over the last four days and even got a fresh snow but no tracks were found one dog did manage to run an elk into the next county on the first day. we were in unit 511 we will be back over christmas brake and im not sure to try a new place or not any advise would be great hopefully a place with no elk

No elk or deer also means no lions.

I hunt that area some and there are cats there but they move lower with the deer and elk which puts them on or near private or worse yet the air force academy. Id hunt that area with caution or only run a really fresh track. Im not shure were your traveling from but if your coming from very far away Id look for an area with less private.

U should try canyon city lots of cats thier rampart range is very slow not a lot of food for them to many people

When looking at comming down by Canon city you might want some dry ground dogs. For there is no snow here and nothing in the forcast. That is where i am located and i am just waiting for the snow. Along with all the others. Good luck

Also when coming around Canon you'll want to bring a good BLM map. The dog boxes flock in here by the dozen on a fresh snow, most of them not knowing where the boundries are and end up on private ground. Consequently it's not the hound freindly country it used to be. Fremont County has become a huge subdivision over the last ten years or so.
