What local vet should you use?

Was wondering if any of ya'll would be interested in a specific forum topic, where everyone can share what vet they use. No " bashing" or childish antics, ONLY suggesting good vets we feel comfortable trusting our prized dogs with.

I only ask because I have a DAMN good vet and there are many reasons why I like their office more than just because they are so good with handeling my hounds and their overall knowledge, but also because they aren't in the business to make you unneccessarily worried about your dogs and trying to talk you into all sorts of unneeded testing thats costly. They are Straight to the point, keep it as real as can be with yu , and NO I mean absolutely NO B.S.

When my Female went into labor this past september, my vet drove an hour and a half BACK up into town just to make sure she was around in case any problems occured, she did this without me asking, and didnt try to charge me or anything , just gave up her day for a good cause.

First tim I took my female as a pup ino the FIRST vet I WAS going to I walked out with $190 bill just for the first Check-up! I figured it was only gonna be like a $80 visit until I got there and they talked me into a half-dozen tests and got me over parannoid!

Anyhow, just wondered if it would bean ok thing to have, a vet reference so to speak.
Or would that be stirring a pot?

Great topic to get started . I absolutely consider a great vet to have as a tool in our hunting endeavors . I understand your concerns about " EXTRA TESTS " But At least we budget to have all the hounds examined once per year . Obviuosly more if injuries arise , but just like your truck or tools of your trade "PREVENTIVE MAINTENENCE " goes a long way in taking care of your tools " HOUNDS" . Overall over the years I think this approach has "SAVED " us more money then we would have spent had we been neglectfull in some area's .

Yeah, I'm big on wormer and heart worm preventative. Would suck to train a world class dog and get it just doing what you are hoping to have it die over our ignorance.

I think a good vet is really important,I looked around and talked to lots of pet owners to find a good vet.I found a smaller clinic out in the country.The lady is very good with animals and is reasonable in pricing sometimes doesn't charge me for the smaller things.She will also look after me when there is a emergency after hours.My buddy just took one of his hounds in to a emergency clinic,after getting tangled up in a barb wire fence.Charged him a ton of money,and the pup got kennel cough and spread it to all his hounds some of them got it really bad.Now we need to wait 10 days till we can start hunting again.My advice stay away from emergency clinics or stuff like this happens.

My Vet is exactly like the one mentioned above (Not the Clinic)
She's a little Vet office, in a tiny country town. She doesnt charge ME for little things sometimes too, including running meds to me in the middle of the night before. Now to me, THAT ALL spells damn good person , let alone vet.

Now, dont get me wrong, I'm not saying vets should GIVE us everything, I mean they gotta make a living too, but it just tells you they truly CARE about you AND most importantly your dogs.

When I moved to this town I had a great relationship with one vet, they walked me though the ins and outs of the animal control issues and took good care of my hounds but later on his attitude got worse, I switched to one one 10 minutes from my house but she was thorough and always tried to upsell me. I switched to a new vet who is fresh out of vet school. When I asked for dex for snake bites she went to her office drew some up put in some containers gave me some syringes and asked what else I would need her rates are the cheapest and she has set up payment plans for some of her customers who could not afford all the care right away.
