I was just curious if very many of you guys have this body style of truck; If so, how is yours holding up? Mine is in the shop due to a horrible knocking coming from the lower engine which they believe is a rod. Also they said both cams are horribly over retarded. They are doing the tear down today so I will know exactly what is going on soon. This truck only has 88,000 miles on it, So this should not be happeing but is. From what they have discovered so far, they believe it will require a new engine. Thank god I have a bumper to bumper extended warrant

But any how since I'm not able to hunt I figured I would check to see how your toyotas are holding up.

Re: 2006 Toyota Tacoma
Got an 05, piece of junk. If I was to keep it on the road and mostly do stuff on the pavement or just a little offroading or hunting it would be great too. Not good for houndsmen, got 106,000 and had countless problems. Again this is coming from a hunter so take it for what its worth, haha

Re: 2006 Toyota Tacoma
I have a 2006 also , but i havent had any major problems. Here is my list of stuff that has gone bad.
-Front bumper cover is almost falling off snow got up in it and froze and the weight
broke all my cilps.
-leaf springs suck truck bottoms out easy
-trailer plug in broke
-airbag light on
-the whole pedal thing
-compass and outside temp cage is broke
-Foglights are long gone
-bed side pockets broke and are gone
There has to be others just cant think right now, but all in all I love my truck. I love the quad cab and being able to haul a lot of people with me or my family if I go out. The kids also have a movie player in the back, so that is a huge plus. I have alot of stuff broke but it is more my fault like my headlight and rear window. My truck has around 110,000 no engine, tranny or major problems so far. Always use synthetic motor oil and have changed diff fluids on time, use what is recommended.

Snow got up in my bumper cover and froze and broke my clips that hold it on. And the bad part it fell off when I was driving and ran it over. So you can add another to my list.

Re: 2006 Toyota Tacoma
Dont need chains where you are can go in 2WD, piece of shit trucks man thats all. 30,000 miles on this one, 70,000 on the first. Thats not very good odds to get 45,000 miles out of a tranny. I was in the low country! Last straw for me, was going to get rid of it anyways, after this is fixed Im done. Getting an older Toyota Pickup or an older Toyota Tacoma. Good luck with yours
