If u are wanting to gain respect from houndsmen by posting pics on this internet maby u are hunting for the wrong reason. Hunt for yourself and your dogs and the love of running dogs. Maby the reason why u are getting a lil flack from some guys is u are killing a female and that doesnt go over well at all with most guys if that cat wasnt a problem cat. I think if u just go hunt maby people will talk more about how u are slaming cats instead of u being good looking and a women cause if i am looking at finding someone to guide me on a hunt i want to see some pics of big cats (TOMS) in trees. Not a good looking guide!! I dont know u just my 2 cents but if a person is looking for respect it can only be earned not bought... Gene

I was not the one who brought my looks into it. I was simply telling a story of a cool hunt and a good lion whether it be a female or not. I posted one hunt and I get my ass ripped. It is funny that you good ol boys will pat each other on the back when any of you post pics of cats you get, male, female, big or small. I haven't guided in years until this year. I have hunted on my own for many years running my dogs because of guys like you. I never asked for your respect or anything else. Where I live if a rancher gives you permission to hunt on their land you harvest whatever you tree. If you don't you will not be allowed back. There is two ways to look at this. I live in a ranching community and if I want to hunt here I do what the rancher says. When I lived in Dayton and hunted only national forest I let nearly every cat I treed go. In the last 10 years I have only harvested one tom myself, my son harvested one and a couple hunters harvested cats. Out of all that time hunting that is not much to make even a dent in the population compared to the majority Wyoming lion slayers that kill everything they tree. Those who are giving me shit are a bunch of hypocrates. I don't like guiding as much as I liked hunting for myself, but sometimes a person needs to do what they have to to pay the bills if they want to go hunting. Maybe I shouldn't have shared the fact it was a female. I am sure all of you would have thought it was a tom if I hadn't mentioned it. I was honest in telling the story and as I said I do not feel bad doing so and yes it is a hell of a lot harder to be a woman doing this than a guy. You have no idea what kind of asses some of you have made of yourselves and I have ignored it and handled it in a respectful way. You know who you are. Common consideration and tact goes a long way.

And if u do everything that a rancher wants then they want u to kill everything that u see including females and cubs and see how far that gets u. I am not saying that u killing that particular female is bad cause a 150 pound female that has most likely not had kittens is probally baren and is fine to kill (in my opinion) but u will get a lot of shit doing that. I try very hard to get along with everyone and dont want to piss u buy off but just dont buy the woman card!!

I don't know you at all but my younger brother bought your last female pup out of scarlett, atleast I think that was her name, the pup got killed by a bear at around 1 yr old, he had nothing but good things to say about you and the pup had a ton of potential. That being said I am sorry that hounds"MEN" seem to have a problem with a woman running cats and posting about it. Good job and keep it up! And these boys that think all the mature cats are killed out of Utah haven't hunted some of WY's livestock country and probably haven't raised sheep around cats or coyotes, all ranchers aren't blood thirsty lion haters but they need their pay check and their pay check fomes from livestock not pictures of cats in trees. Keep up the good work and I hope this john guy works out for you, and Geno, you might want to drink some more or maybe go lay on a couch and talk to somebody about your issues with women... BHP isn't hurting the lion population or this forum so grow so balls or quit slamming her for your own petty BS

Tessa good job, you done what you enjoy. Funny how so many saints, show up when they didn't get the lion instead, Im not convinced they wouldnt have taken her either, I think your story was honest, and kind. Now if you were in a pair of spandex like the dawg, maybe the woman card I think a bikini would be a better choice, then they can accuse you of the woman card for sure Jealousy works in many ways, be proud of your dog work,and harvest.

For you other guys, if you had any sense, you would get ahold of a the outdoor magazine, in your state and do a story on a woman hunting,and harvest, good public relations, for all, and especially the woman vote, which is 50%, if you would ever need it in the future, ah guess you guys thought of that already. LOL

Nice pictures, nice story and great trophy. Personaly that is why I visit this site. Don't worry about all the other crap. This is just an observation but has anyone else noticed that alot of the western hunters seem to be awfully jealouse of each other and do nothing but whine every time sombody kills something. Almost everybody that posts a picture from the west gets jumped on. It just seems like for the most part here in the east we can post picture's and nobody Questions what we did or why we did it. Before I started visiting the internet I always thought that it would be awesome to go out west and do some running but now I'm not so sure. Even the post about looking for tracks at night cracks me up. Around here if somebody finds a track before you,oh well go look for another one. If they got out of bed before you then they deserve it. They don't even have to sit on it,they can write thier initails in the snow beside it and most guy's will leave it alone. JMO

I'd like to see the info your wildlife officer gave you on this cat!!! Down her in co we are in the 7th year of a lion study and we don't have females over 103lbs here!!!! As far as her looking full belly in the pics she looks gutted and started skinned befor the pics was taken!!!! I hunt for ranchers here too when you find a female track stomp it out and go find a Tom to run ranchers usually don't pay attention they just want there money here!!! As far as telling she was a female you couldn't get her to move around in the tree to see if there was the two black spots under her tail? Not being a ass just asking a few question!!! Congrats on the dog work!!!

If you read the story you'll see it was partially skinned before the pics.

No, it doesnt look like a 140lb cat, but most cats seem to gain a pound for every Km the drive home was, but whatever, is it about the weight ?
Awkward, live weight isnt something judged easily and is usually wrong by a considerable amount for the majority of people "guessing."
I just smile and think, "good for you"... and hope that if she ever sees me taking a leak she gets that guesstimate on the long side

Congrats on the dog work. The only way she deserves a hard time is if there is a quota that limits hunters based on the female quota. In my state hunts are ruined by people shooting females. Other than that it shouldn't matter if the hunter is male or female, plain fact is BHP probably gets around in the woods better than half the male slobs sitting behind their keyboards, myself included.

If there is a quota the sex should have been identified to not short change your fellow hunters. If there isn't a quota then the harvest of a female doesn't effect the population all that much. JMO.
