has anyone had this problem

Post by basko »

ive been trying to breed one of my dogs but whenever the male gets close to her she just about kills him. i finally took her out and put her with another just to see what would happen. ill just say things could have happened with the other dog if i left them together. my question is could she just really hate the dog i tried to breed her with haha. idk what else it could be. other than him trying to breed her they have always gotten along

take a triple coupler and cinch her to the pen. kinda like you would to get on a green colt. my english female was the same way never ill until you went to breed her. was ill with one male but would just stand for my cash dog. just another idea or maybe she aint ready yet.

I really have to laugh after reading this post and the threads to it.
Buy yourself a muzzle for the dog, in fact you should own a couple of them.

Know how to tell when your bitch dog is in standing heat.

This alone will save you a lot of time and money getting her bred.
Maybe save a friendship with the breeder of the stud dog.
No one wants their stud dog getting chewed up trying to bred a grouchy bitch dog.

I don`t know how many times I have had a dog over for training.
Now I need to see what his reaction is to my dogs.
Some dogs you just have no problems with around strange dogs.

But I can tell you, i had a big bitch dog that was a real alligator when she can in heat.
if she was not ready in standing heat, she was just to much to handle, thus the muzzle was a good choice for testing her for breeding.

Not to Hi-Jack the thread, but it also checks the new dogs attitude in your own pack.
i have had strange dogs try to screw my dogs, male-female it did not matter, showing dominance.

Frizz up everytime my dog got close to them.
Snap at them at the tree.
Climb trees and fall back onto dogs just to get a fight going.
Walk around bowed up all the time strutting their stuff.

thanks everyone for the info. i just wasnt sure cuz the two actually stay in the same pen when she is not in heat and they r just fine. and i know shes ready cuz she will let any dog but him have a chance. i guess his goods arent good enough for her haha. o well atleast i can still hunt her instead of getting her bred
