One quick drive = One quick tree

Post by Marshall »

Been huntin my hide off to no avail the last few days. It has been storming nonstop 14-18 inches of snow in the last two days. Cold trailed one yesterday to a rock pile and today we had a break in the storm. Decided to load my lucky charms (Wife and kids) and head out. Found a older track and walked my older dog out, it had been snowed in and when it would go under tree's you couldnt see the track from all the snow falling out of the tree. I could see how this was gonna go, so I loaded her back up to go look if it came out somewhere. Found where it came out and walked down the road, still had snow in it but much less. Dumped the box and they ran out of hearing, stayed there for awhile and they came back towards me. They were about 500-600 yds out and pulled up treed.
When I got to the tree my two pups were locked down! They did a great job locating as it was about 100ft up, my wife called and said the kids wanted to come to the tree. We have about 2 1/2-3 ft of snow and the little tikes hiked all the way out. Hope you enjoy the pics!

Hey guys thanks it was a dang nice day for me and my dogs to get another one under thier belt.

Buck, you need to post some of your pics on this site man, You been doin a bang up job this year and everyone needs to see how far them dogs have come. My hat is off to ya for gettin them dogs in the woods as much as you have. Taking some dogs from the pound and turnin em into top knotch hounds has somethin to say about how hard a man works at it. Good job buddy and keep it up!

Way to go Marshall.. Great to see the wife and kids at the tree. You couldnt get my wife to a tree in that deep of snow, maybe if it had hundred dollar bills for leaves! No, she still wouldn't go!

Great job buddy.

Thanks guys! I am trying to provide a positive outlook for my kids and teach them right from wrong and i know if they are in their teens and have dogs then they most likely will be out hunting insted of gettin in trouble......Atleast thats the theory :D.

Shane, i am going to try my darndest to make a book like you have and thats the reason i have had the camera with me so much lately lol. That book is awesome and one heck of a way to keep memories!

Take care and good luck huntin,

Sorry WVhoundsmen,
I forgot to tell you what my dogs are out of. The ones on the right in the pic that im holding them back from mauling my son lol are out of outwesthounds, the dog in the middle is my 8 month old huck dog (green collar) and the dog on the right is my 1 1/2 year old gritty dog(blue collar). I got gritty a few months ago and she had never been hunted before now and let me tell you what, she is a natural! Both of my dogs from outwesthounds have been unbelieveable, huck has made every race sense he was 5 months and is a natural rig dog (right now its everything), gritty and copper are also striking out of the box on everything that creeps wiggles or crawls. I would highly recommend all of these pups . The older red headed walker (mitsy) is one i have had for awhile now and its kinda a long story about where she came from but, she is a great all around dog and will live out the rest of her days with me! Then i have a 5 month old pup (copper) from poser that is out of the psycho x drifter cross. He is comin along real real good and has made his first 2 races with the dogs as well. I had him tied back because he is still young and was wanting to wonder a bit so i tied him off, He is a natural as well, He has been into 12 trees sense he was 4 months old and has started to tree good, He has also been on 1 bob and 1coon bayup as well and loves to get in there and get some. He is the blanket back dog. I have been very lucky with the dogs that i have, the pups have all been early starters and have suited me very well. Hope that answers your question lol. Take care,

Marshall
