Bedded areas, N. Texas Pat Mayse Lake
I scouted along the north shore of Pat Mayse lake during the last two weeks. It's USACE property and the hunting area is just north of Camp Kiwanis. We found bedded down hogs in large areas of reed grass that line the lake. The area shown is the cove just northeast of Camp Kiwanis. I trudged in there and had two dogs running through it after what proved to be shotes. I found hogs bedded down in similar areas of tall weeds growing adjacent to farm ponds, or tanks, in Central Texas this fall. Stood right on top of one. My very close range shot placement was not so good, apparently.

- Red chased a small one out of grass and into the water and caught it.

- Hog bedding area deep inside reed grass. We'd just chased several hogs out. You can see the tunnel like entrances.

- Reed grass along the east bank of the cove. It's 6 and 7 ft tall.
