WE NEED MORE NUMBERS FOR THE COLLARS SO THERE IS LESS INTERFERENCE.

This is my biggest gripe and it's only going to get worse. I can live with the range around here and durability could be better. But I am comparing them to telemetry collars which are usually bullet-proof for 6-10 years.

I see someone had a comment about them not updating and I have seen that also at times for whatever reason. Usually it isn't a problem because we can compare to somebody else hunting with us who has one and see if they get them in the same spot. It's no different than taking multiple beeps on a dog to triangulate it's position, except you can just call them on the radio instead of having to drive there. :D

One motto I alwaye keep in mind is this. Anything electronic is going to fail at some point, so it's a good idea to have a backup plan. It doesn't matter if your'e talking about a radio, gps, telemetry, cell phone, shock collar, light, fish finder, camera or something else. This stuff all makes our life easier, but the world was still turning long before it ever came about and will be long after.

i don't have this problem because no one likes to hunt with me anyways. don't bother me much though. less radio interference with my garmin then :D

in some places i like to use the beep beep collars as a back up but some places i will just use the garmin. my concern is that when you have the garmin, a beep beep, a shock collar, and the regular leash collar, the dog looks like it's about to choke to death. i have gotten more comfortable just puting the garmin on here though.

Steve you might want to post this on Vargy's and KC's coyote hunting boards. There are plenty of guys that run them on those boards and aren't on this one.

...it is a love /HATE relationship. The range sucks and the battery life on the collars, sucks, the charging connections, on the collars, sucks, the long range antenas sucks. The base that connects the antena, Sucks. The compass sucks. And their costomer service sucks. But other than that I love it.

Ditto. Plus the durability of components is not what it should be.

Really stinks that less than 30% of the folks that viewed this actually voted. Guess it's better than an election though.

The only complaint I will address here is about the more channels. The rest have been covered many times. More channels would be real hard to do because of Federal Law!! The FCC only allows so much deviation on the current channels. Getting a license to use other channels would be an option. Still that would cost big, and the FCC only allows the use of a channel within a certain radius. The only area that I am aware of there might be a possibility of this. Is one the old TV channels. Not sure if the FCC has allocated those channels to anything yet. Any way you look at it. It is not as simple as just adding more channels. Even if they did it would only cause more interference as it is now. They only allow 10 to be used in order to cut down on the interference. You complain now, but if you could use all of the current 50. You would throw a huge fit. Think of it this way. You would not beep beep box with collars lined up as say for example. 216.700, 705, 710, 715, 720. You would have all sorts of problems. Since the max deviation I believe is 20khz from the channels garmin uses. You would be even tighter than that. OUCH!!!! It's a Federal law issue more than it is a Garmin isssue. Perhaps Garmin could do something more about it, but it will cost a bunch to do so. A cost the consumer would have to pay. Just like if they were to go fully satellite. How many out there have sat phones??

Welcome to marketing suveys. Thirty percent is a pretty good result considering most surveys only get a few percent. Plus there are people reading this thread that don't own Garmins. The hardest part about marketing reseach is the patients it takes to collect all the data.

There is also the possibility of people viewing the thread multiple time, but only voting once.

Love/Hate! Love it when the collar has not lost satellite signal. I still think there should always be a beeper on the dog. I'm happy with the range I get for the country I hunt.I guess I'll have to do the softwear update.

John, use rechargables, far more cost effective!

Mike, that may be never!! Folks still complain about the beep, beep boxes. Heck, some complain about everything. The positives outweigh the negatives. At least in my opinion, and that is why my dogs only wear one tracking collar!!!
