Houndnem break down your criteria for the 3500. Fuel, dogs, labor, etc.

I used to help guide for bear. This is how I would break it down. $200 for gas, $300 for packing out the animal, and $3000 for putting up with the bloomin hunter.

3,500.00 is a five day hunt. the hunter is responsable for getting here and his own food and lodging while here. If the hunt goes the whole 5 days I won't make much of anything, but I am banking on killing in a couple days. there's also the possability of a little tip money as well.

The reason I asked is I took a permit holder out for the first time and had a set rate at a thousand to start off. It took three days to put the Tom up he wanted to tag. These were the factors I took in: 50 for gas, candybars and water each day. I made around 200 bucks a day at work, I missed three days. That's a total of 750. I hunted three dogs so they each got an expensive 50 dollar bag of food I guess. Trip paid came out with a 150 dolla tip or as said some deluxe smellin dog shit. I could hunt on that for nearly a week. So did I miss an important factor somewhere along the way. Or is a 2500 dollar tip the way it's supposed to be.

It costs me about $300.00 a day in gas/food to hunt from here to the montain and the wheelers snowmobiles ...... then you've got the blm forest service permits.(not cheap lots of days runnin around lots of papaerwork) we are also required to carry liability insurance, and a state professional licence which costs money to renew, also cpr, first aid certs must be current. don't forget that the gov't wants their share, taxes on everything you make! you have stitches and vet care if the dogs get tore up, not to mention you are taking a chance on losing a few $5000.00 dogs everytime you turn out. not to mention if you break anything while you are out there. I'm sure all of these are not a factor everytime you hunt, but I have left a few out.The people that book my hunts also take 500. so like I say if you get it done in 2 days you made a little money if not you broke even. if I could make the type of money per hunt you are talking about I wouldn't be pouring concrete for a living, I would hunt 10 days a month and live like a king. I think the going rate to have an unlicenced uninsured hack take you out for cash under the table is about 1000 dollars, but don't get caught doing that!
