B&Ts and youngsters...

Post by P.W. Chapman »

Real proud of my nephews and the dog work. 4 teenagers, 2 of our B&Ts, and one tag-a-long Walker (LOL) hunting alone found, trailed, jumped, fought, and treed this nice late season bear. Chapman's Morton Creek Preacher (our #1 coondog) is closest to the bear and Chapman's Morton Creek Smokey (Preacher X my Cindy female) is in the middle. Walker dog is over to the left. They free-cast Preacher and Smoke and they went and found him and got him trailed up and on the run they had a good race and the Walker got packed in and all three did a nice job. I had to edit out the youngster holding the bear's head...I ain't gonna put a kid's pic on the internet without parental OK! Preacher and Smoke have both done well in the bear woods this fall when not being coonhunted at night....It does make for some interesting nights sometimes LOL. I got him off a tree one night with a 250 lb + bear within arms reach up a hemlock tree. I'm not a big time bear hunter and ain't used to such things LOL. Pic quality isn't the greatest, it is from a phone camera...

Its a small world. I had no idea there was anyone on this sight that I knew personally, much less someone I hunted with all season! And you forgot to mention the person who skinned and packed out the meat for you! Lol pretty good of someone who didn't get a phone call till it was over. Just joking with you! Good bear and a good end to the season. :D

No problem. I'm glad and appreciative of you guys that are hunting with them and helping them out. More folks ought to take some younger folks "under their wing" so to speak, to help keep younger guys going in the sport, else it'll all die out one of these days. Those boys know dogs and they know the woods... They've been coon hunting with me and Steve since they were about knee high lol.
