this hunt started around 8:00 a.m. with us roading the dogs down the side of a mountain
i seen the young dogs throw there head up and up the side they went the old dog went with them i heard the old dog open one time and then the young dogs pretty much took over, the way it sounded to me is they got high and bumped a coyote and were off to the races not wanting to run this canine vermon i casually pulled out the trusty tri tronics turned it up to number whoa and pushed the button everything immeadeteley became quite i was standing there in the road thinking oh what a glorius way to train dogs and the all croosed the road in front of me like there tails were on fire so i naturally started yelling at them and not one even slowed down about that time they all started opening again including the old dog this is when the light came on for me. the
only thing i had done was make them all run silent until there boss me figured out they were right and he was wrong. they went all the way to the bottom pulled the other side about 1/2 way up and started to locate and then they dropped the hammer and started to talk treed.
when i got to the tree the dogs just looked at me and kept treeing
every once in awhile i get ahead of the dogs and think there doing something a little shady and i make a mistake but as long as i keep putting them on good game they forgive me

i have done the same thing sure makes a guy feel bad. good thing they didnt come off it and you would have thought you were right . now when the young dogs do start a coyote you are going to let them run it a little longer than normal giving them the benifit of the dought.
thats why its so fun training dogs they keep you on your toes. have fun.

This has happened more times than we want to admit. My theory is you won't break them off good game and a goof now and then keeps them dodging and looking trying to stay away from the "HAMMER".

How much of the old renick dogs are around. Dad started out with them 40 years ago with dogs out of Oregon Mack Twain dogs. Our renick is pretty much deluted or gone now. Are you Cal. Guys keeping it going. I know dad would love to get some back in his dogs.

GARY SHE IS LEARNING EVERY DAY KEEP IN TOUCH.
CATDOG. JIM WITH FALL RIVER HAS BEEN LINE BREEDING THE RENICKS SINCE HE GOT THEM
I HAVE A COUPLE YOUNG DOGS THAT ARE INBRED AND THAT I AM WATCHING REAL CLOSE SO FAR LOOKING GOOD.
THERE IS ONLY A COUPLE OF US THAT STAY WITH THESE DOGS, AND MAKE SURE THE LINE STAYS STRONG.
I BELEIVE THERE IS A SON IN LAW OR A NEPHEW OF RENICK BACK IN MICHIGAN THAT IS KEEPING THE LINE CLEAN. BUT THAT IS JUST WHAT I HAVE HEARD OVER THE YEARS
SO ITS HARD TO TELL WHAT THEY MEAN BY KEEPING THE LINE CLEAN AND STRONG.
