From the file Depot I downloaded the Montana stuff and the Arizona stuff. Now as far as on the computer screen the free stuff I downloaded aint that great for Montana but is for AZ. But when you are loading map regions on your Garmin you can load the whole state of land ownership then switch over to the hunting districts and then switch over to the regular mapsource data and everything you have selected will upload into the GPS. Like Scott said Montana has some wierd property boundaries and I find this overlay invaluable. As far as elevation buddy you can see everything you do with the normal Mapsource software loaded. The only con I have found is like Steve said the screen gets pretty busy however I just zoom in or out and it normally solves that problem for me. All in all I am very glad I downloaded the software and haven't found any gliches in it yet.

I'm off to bed, But I talked with a friend that moved to WY from Over here in Oregon and he's been using those maps for a while, so I figured I'd call and ask him how he liked it and since I know he used to hunt over here also I figured he would understand my position as well..

He said they were worth every penny for WY, He Probably wouldn't buy it for Oregon. Which is kinda what I'm seeing.. I don't know that I'd like it so much for here, I think I'd prefer the Topo stuff.. But I can definitely see the benefit for other states with wierd Property lines and BLM land mixed in and if you don't know the hunting area very well. We hunt Large National forest so Property lines are not often something we are worried about.

I haven't messed with the overlay stuff yet.. That might be the reason I don't see the elevations listed good.

Buddy, I've been watching these for awhile, I plan on getting a second astro and was looking at upgrading to one of these maps. Does it show corps of Engineers lands. Much of what I hunt in both Washington and Idaho is corps land and I'd like to be able to see where these are.

I need some help. I've downloaded all the western states, about 6 that I want from miscjunk.com. I select all the maps into mapsource but when I go to download them, (it says it will take about an hour), my computer shuts off about half way through. I've got the usb plugged into a fast port, and have a 4gig card in the astro. Not sure why it keeps shuttting down the computer before it downloads everything. If I only download two states, it downloads fine, any ideas?

Yea it should, I'm not sure if the Idaho Map will show the land owner names yet or not.
I need to call them again, I'll Try and ask them about the idaho maps.

Trying to figure out the best way of doing this, I want to have it so that We'll be able to upgrade your maps for you in the future for 20-30 bucks or something.

That way every couple years we could get your maps upgraded.

Dean, I would use the map Installer, It shows how much memory is on the card when your installing the card.

Buddy, not sure I understand what your saying. My card is a 4GB card, so there should be plenty of space. What is the map installer? I'm using mapsource to install these maps.

FullCry,

Map installer is the New Garmin Map loading interface. I don't use MapSource to install my maps.
You can try to install this software and see if it is the same. I've got them from some other software from garmin.

Idaho Bison, Yes It shows everything in WA, It shows my name on my land.. I don't think the Idaho maps have the property owners names on them. Montana does.

I'll ask them about it for you to find out what the Idaho Map is. tomorrow

Fullcry,

It does take a long time to load all of the maps at the same time. You need to check your power settings on your computer and make sure it isn't set to turn off after a period of inactivity. While the maps are downloading your computer will think that it is not doing anything and shut down if that is the way your power options are.
