I always worry about them careening over ledges although it hasn't happened to me yet, knock on wood. I have a new hound from down south that isn't used to snow and ice.. He tried walking down a steep slope on crusted over snow a couple a days ago. Came down like a bobsled! Luckily it wasn't far, but he let out quite a whine as he slid down. I was pleased to see that my other hound, who weighs twenty pounds more and was breaking through the crust , came to his new kid brother's rescue. He stood sideways across the southerner's path and broke his slide!
Sorry you lost a good one, bobtail. I'm sure she'll live on in your memories..
