Re: what is a trigg
The Trigg dog is a tri-colored BWT with ideally a white ring around his neck, black saddle turning to a rich brown down the legs and having 4 white socks and wht. tip on his tail generally not over 3''from the end.The Trigg was bred up by a Col. Trigg of Glasgow,Ky area at almost the same time as Running Walker dog was being developed in the mid 1800s.The Walker(running type) and the Trigg have many of the same dogs in their background including Tennesse lead that was the backbone of the Walker breeding program is also in the Trigg line.Col. Trigg leaned toward a smart track dog with a beautiful high horn bawl and with the tri-color look while the Walker family bred for gameness in their dogs and let the color be damned. The full blood Trigg like the Walker is a running dog bred to run its game to ground but a fair percent of the Triggs do tree. You are in an area that some run the coyotes and I'll bet some use Triggs, but you can on the webb enter american foxhound or Trigg foxhound and should get you more info. frank

Re: what is a trigg
My Trigg was whelped by Cecil Bogg's who is/or was the president of the trigg Assoc. (didn't buy her for that reason, bought her after watching her run some fox). She was a terrific track runner who LOVED fox and could move a track pretty quick without overrunning it. She was good on yotes and had some grit. We didn't have many cats in our area of PA back when she was alive, but I bet she would have run them just fine based on her track running style and instincts. Two litters off her and my good walker male produced about 5 different hounds that have brought cats to gun (not bad when you consider they were half running walker and cats were an after thought) I also think she had the makings of a terrific cold trailer as well. She was red with white points and a 3/4 white collar. She would run a deer prior to me "explaining" to her that was not what we were after, but was true in short order. I don't heap praise on every hound I've owned for sure and have had more that prefered to run a yote cause it was easier and more straight forward and more that would trott past a cold track because it required work. My trigg was not one of these, wish she would have been around longer. Enjoy, Keystonepaul
