Got searched yesterday.

yesterday immediately after leaving school i was pulled over by two cops. I live in Pownal maine. and go to freeport high school. (home of ll.beans) the town is a complete yuppyvilee. They had to have been waiting for me because i do the same thing everyday after school, there were two cops on the side of the road a soon as i went by they turned there lights on. .I hadn't been doing anything wrong so i was confident when the guys came up to my window,

The guy said that he was called by the school to search my box because they thought it was suspicious, and they thought i might have a gun in the box. so they asked my whats in the box and i said a chain saw and an ice chisel ( i catch live bait in the winter for ice fishing) They asked why i would have a chain saw and i explained the whole bait trapping deal. Then they asked if they could search my box and i said no. They got in contact with my parents and asked them for permission to search my box. My mother said yes. i have a lock on my box so knowone steels my saw. They were exited when she said yes so i got out and opened it up. To there surprise there was a chain saw and a chisel. They were not pleased with this so they then asked to searched my truck. i said no.....my mother saide yes. They looked behind my seat and found my binoculars my spotlight and my clip to my 22-250 along with some coyote calls. they had all of this on the hood and i just sat there and watched them pick apart my cab. They found a couple of stray birdshot/and buckshot bullets and repeatedly asked me why i had these. I told them that i hunt and to hunt u need bullets. that just pissed them off. 2 more cops showed up. after they were done and didnt find any weapons they said they were thankful for my time and they were just concerned about the gun issue around the school.

These are the same cops that stop me atleast once a week for spotlighting for deer. wich is legal when its not hunting season. and the same cop that stoped me because someone had a concern about the dogs in my truck with there head out the holes.

so im sure i,ll be stoped again. i think some day i will rig my dogs on the box right down maine street freeport.

OO Buck, good job on taking a stand for your Constitutional God given rights in this PC world. Now you just need to get your mom on the same page. Don't quite fighting for your rights, no matter how much they harrass you. Mike

I wish there were more young men like you around. Seems like whenever I have to deal with a high school aged person, it is because they are stoned out of their mind, just got caught vandelizing someone elses property, or have just stolen something.

Does my heart good when I see a teenager driving down the road with a dog box in the back of his truck, or a rifle in the gun rack. Remember the day we all had rifle racks across the back window?

I remember taking my guns to school so we could work on them in shop class, hell, we even made guns in shop class for projects, and the teacher would take us out back by the football field for the test firing. Best knife I ever owned I made in shop class, nowaday, you get frikin suspended for having a knife at school and locked up for having a firearm in your vehicle.

I don't remember a day back in school where I didn't have a gun or multiple guns in my truck. I'd be in the klink with a felony now. Heck we used to sneak out in our study hall to go hunt grouse. No way I could have pulled that off with having to go home to pick up my shotgun.

These laws don't make a lot of sense to me but what do I know. If a kid is that screwed up that he wants to mow down a classmate, some stupid law prohibiting it isn't going to change his/her intentions. The kid is already well passed cracked. The wheels have already been turning and it's been schemed well ahead of time. It's not like kids are just getting pissed off and getting thier sidearm to settle up.

You did good on this one, keep standing up for yourself. Just make sure to do it in a straight up and respecfull manner. Maybe they should go check some of those yuppies for all the crap they're smoking.

ol buddy you need to document everytime you have been stopped and slap them with hunter harrassment charges, then they can't even check you license anymore.

Depending on were u are from probably like 5 hours. Im not someone u would want to come up and hunt with though, i have 2 dogs and there nothing special. i mostly run coon

sounds like to me you need a dog like i have that will bite them on the face when they look in your truck there are good cops and not so good ones every where but always be prepared to be a target so dont do any thing wrong keep your head up high and be proud of who you are and what you do.

Buck for me its just about 2 hours or just over east on rt 302 to fryeburg Maine and even hunt with so so hounds is better than being at work lol

so true!! but it just makes someones parents feel all better inside knowing its illegal to have a firearm in your vehicle at school now cus sombody shot up a school that was mentally unstable to begin with.. now i cant go buy ammo or guns at k-mart cus thats where the killers bought their ammo... im waiting for wal-mart to stop selling guns/ammo now after this arizona deal. hell half of them already stopped and their selection is already low.

I am NOT disagreeing with some opinions ,Just my age reflecting my experiences . You have to assume that being 16-25 the cops are automatically going to profile you and suspect you of something.

When I was 14 my father told me when you get your Drivers license age 16 and you want a vehicle it will be on " YOUR DIME " I worked saved got me a pick-up truck . First year I bet I was stopped 7-8 times ,Never got a ticket but they always wanted to check out the truck . Especially during the hunting season .I always kept the Shells , clips, knives in a locked tackle box and always kept the gun cased . I never did drugs but I am pretty sure that is what they were hoping to find . Never gave the cops any lip and tried to show them some respect.

The only time they ever found anything I was 19 they looked in the glove box and found a box of condoms The officer asked me if I was " Banging any CHICKS under 18 " Seems like after I got out of the service the Harrassment went away .

My point being if you got nothing to hide you have nothing to loose .

i still feel that there is a certain line that goes from being checked to harrassed. there are such laws prohibiting that in north carolina. aint to sure bout maine or any where else. my lawyer informed me back in the day that if they ask for anything but your license without probable cause its harrasment and that multiple occasions with zero findings or infractions constitutes harrassment charges and the offending officer being put on report and an internal investigation.

i got stopped the other week (well i was already stopped lol) way out in the desert by one of our favorite mud holes with the girlfriend. a pinal county detective rolled up in his impala and stopped a little away from the truck so i took my revolver, put it on the dash and greeted him. he was real nervous and pulled out his badge to indentify himself and i continued to be polite and ask him how he was doin. he started questioning me and when he asked if i had any weapons i pointed out the pistol and said he was more then welcome to take a look at it but he wasnt, he was more interested in asking me about drugs and what we were doing so far out there so i pointed out the mud all over the truck and said we were just havin some fun..he thanked me and told me i should go somewhere as he was conducting a "stolen vehicle investigation" i obliged and went on my way.
i've only had one negative experience with the law and that was with a maricopa county sheriff..the rest, including game wardens, have never been a problem.

i'm 20 and i dont think age has ever been an issue in being stopped before.

I'd have a talk with mom and dad. Since you have been tested and found law abiding, I'd ask for support from them. Parents having a talk with the local law enforcement boss about why they are over doing this may be in order. You had better be striaght arrow either way.

I have a couple of questions, did they tell why they stopped you? Citizen complaint, traffic violation or what was the reason? At least in the west cops cannot pull you over just because they want to they need a reason. If I were you I would want to find out the reason for the stop. Perhaps you and your folks should go to the station and request to talk to there supervisor. As for the search the awnser for that is always NO and you should get your folks on the same page as you. If these cops had probable cause to search your vehicle, which is what they need to search, they would have not asked you or your parents they would have searched with or without your permission. It sounds like you keep your nose clean so keep on doing that and dont give them any reason to focus on you. It will soon be no fun and they will move to a new fishing hole.
