New GPS on the market soon
New GPS on the market soon
I was at the SHOT Show here in Vegas a couple weeks ago and saw Sportdog Brand is coming out with a GPS/Shock collar and tracker called the Tek 1.0 ...... I was wondering if any of you had the chance to use this unit yet or know much about them. I heard there will not be any map software available.... just a blank screen showing you and your dogs.

Re: New GPS on the market soon
If it doesn't have maps I'm probably not interested.. Maps are a big part of Hunting and getting into the dogs for me.
Also Knowing where the dogs are and where the Main roads are help me know when it's time to get around and cut them off so they don't get run over..
But that's just my initial thoughts about it. I dont' see it getting too much cheaper than the astro either so I don't know what the benefit will be?? I'm sure I'll pick one up and try it out, And I'll make sure I have access to sell them if folks want them since I don't like to make peoples decisions for them if that's what they want, but unless I'm missing something I don't see any value.

Yeah I dont see any benefit with no maps available. I was just wondering if anyone had a chance to test one out.
I guess the price will be $500 for the handheld unit and one collar. And $600 for the unit and a GPS/shock collar combo.

Hmm.. That doesn't sound like a winning combination.. I like the idea of having the shocker built in, but they really need to get maps.. If they did that then they might be onto something..

Anything made by sportdog I have seen has been inferior to the same product made by other manufacturers, i.e tritronics.

I've found the sportdog stuff is useless unless your training a lab in a fenced yard...

Re: New GPS on the market soon
I've never messed with SportDog, I asked them if they would ship one to Test out and compare against Tri-Tronics.. I told them I would ship it back when I was done, but I like to recomend to customers actual usage and how they worked... And i would list them up for sale.
They didn't even reply back to my Email. So I've never been around one. Maybe that was why??? Or they just thought i was trying get a free system.
