How many dogs do you use?

Just wondering how many dogs everyone else runs. I usually only run 3 including the catch dog.

usually there are 3-4 guys hunting. We usually run 6-8 dogs. Between the 4 guys I hunt with we own probabally own over 20+ dogs put together so its actually a lot less than we really could be running.

i own 9 dogs but usually run 3-5. sorta first and second string. when i hunt alone ill run 2 or three at most.

Most of the time i run two or three and one of those is a young unexprienced dog i am training. I think if you run much more than that at one time you are asking for trouble. In my experience it is also a bad idea to let the catch dog run unless you can get to him really fast if he does catch someting, they tend to get cut up if they try to hold a big hog for an extnded period and if the hog isn't big it goes the other way. I try to keep my dogs as safe as possible and not be cuel to the hog and in my opinion that means letting the catch dog go when i can at least try to control the situation.

I use 5 dogs total 3 Kemmer Curs, 1 Black and tan plott cross and one gritty little healer, and so far ive done ok, i dont use a catch dog but the dogs i have are pritty gritty and seem to keep the hogs bayed pritty good for the most part. But I know some other boys they use any were from 6 to 14 dogs with 2 catch dogs and there aint many hogs that get away from theim ol'boys.

2 strike dogs and lead 2 bulldogs, Too many dogs on a hog gets em running bad in my area, seems less dogs the better off I am.

ime more than 3 total means more vet bills cause they get in each other's way.
