Post by Pooner »

Hey guys I need an some expert opinions on who has the best lion book out there, with stories and info. Also one that isn't 150 bucks. I know there is a book list on here but I need a book review. Thanks.

Depends on what you're after. Lion Tales is a good read for dry ground hunting. For snow hunting the Cameron and Lewis books aren't bad. -IMO- Jimmyd

I heard Mike's book is almost finished and that's the one I'm waiting for...

Tentatively titled "Property of Leonard Wildlife Collection"...

Isn't that right Mike? ;)

Slash Ranch hounds and When the dogs barked treed are my two favorite hound books. High lonesome books has reprints of both for $20-$30

Another good read is Roping Lions in The Grand Canyon by Zane Grey.

Is this book based on a true story or fiction?

It is part of a collection of 3 short stories which are all NON-fiction. It is part of a three story book called Tales of Lonely Trails. They are accounts of a few of Zane's adventures out here in the southwest. Now they are non fiction, but some parts of the story do sound a little embellished, but over all it is a great story.

Yah, but the rumor mills say it won't be available at the coffee shop. They'll be selling it at the XXX Shop on the other side of the tracks, down from his house.

I don't think so Dawg. There's a man in the basin that already has that title patented. :D
